If you don't mind sharing, how long was your second labour?

I'm interested because my first was a tad over 2 hours and I'm wondering what my next could be like. I'm bloody terrified if the truth be known. Or if anyone had a short first labour, how long was your second?

Thanks for sharing...

My first labour was 20 hours in total from first contraction to birth, last 2 1/2 hrs pushing, nothing happened as she was posterior so they got the salad servers and pulled her out.

Second labour was 1 hr 15mins from waters breaking (no contractions prior to that), till birth, last 15 minutes was trying to get her out as she was feel first and then her head got stuck, again the salad servers came out but they weren't helping, in the end they said she just turned her head and her chin became unstuck.

Oh and I did the second one all without drugs (believe me I would have if I could, but there just wasn't the time).

We have a theory that should we have a third it might try and come out sideways, they said I should have had a c/s but her foot came out and by that stage it was all too late.

I was induced with both of my kids, so I don't know if mine will count! But anyway, my first labour was 5 hours with 15 minutes pushing and my second was 1 1/2 hours (boy, was that intense!) with 10 minutes of pushing.

I found with the second that the pushing was heaps easier, I'm hoping that #3 just kind of slides out! :D

My first labour was around 3 hours ... only 2 hours of really nasty stuff though.

I remember my obstetrician told me that if I had another - to make sure I let my carers know how fast the first one was.

First sign of labour .... get your backside out the door.

The second was induced to to high blood pressure - they broke the membrane at 9:15am (I was already 5cm) and DD was born at 12:15pm.

So 3 hours a piece.

Second labour MUCH easier though - not less painful ... just far more manageable. One push and she came out with such force that they needed a mit to catch her!

Two hours is phenomenal for a first ... best you be camping at the hospital door!

Both mine were 5 hours the first took about 3 pushes but the second (much bigger) took about 1/2 to push out.

My first labour was 8 hours and when I got to the hospital that first time (I had my baby in just under 2 hours when I got there of which most of that was pushing anyway) , the Midwife said that if I have any more kids, to get there sooner. So, I am as curious as you to find out about second labours :)

Thanks everyone,

My midwife did tell me for my next one, I'll probably have to go into hospital at 38 weeks and not leave until baby born - hope like hell she was joking!

My first labour was 20+ hours (12 of them in hospital) and the second was 5 hours total. I hope I have number 3 a bit faster but not toooooo fast. I'm 5 minutes walk from hospital tho, so hopefully will make it there no matter what.

My SIL has 3 kids and her labours were 4 / 2 / 1 hour, so she'll have to camp out for the next one as well.

good luck :D

My first labour was 4 1/2 hours, the second one was induced (after baby was manually turned out of footling breach position) and labour lasted 45minutes.
I was told that for the next one I will need to go in really early. :)

You will be like me Kylie - won't make it out front door. Better have the tarps ready :)

DH is worried that he will be delivering the baby this time.
I tell him he has already watched twice, so he should have paid attention!

My first labour was short for a first labour - 4.25 hours.

Second labour was marginally longer - 4.5 hours.

This time my doctor is worried I might not make it to hospital. I'd have to have a damn fast labour not to make the 10 minute trip down the road though...........

This is a great thread but now hearing how much faster some of the other mums second labours were im a bit worried. Im 31 weeks and my first labour was 6hours from the time my waters broke and it has been one of my fears that this time its going to be faster.

I have already had 2 dreams this week that have me hoping there not a sign of what is going to or is about to happen. Wednesday night I dreamt that I had a show and went into labour and last night I had a dream that I went to the bathroom during the night as i felt i needed to go to the toilet and next thing i was delivering my baby on my own as my husband was sound asleep and didnt hear me yelling out to him. In my dream my DS was so gorgeous and smaller then my 8lb 10oz daughter.
