Everytime i leave the room he starts whinging. My bubby was always happy until recently. Just today we went up town for a while and he was great, no complaints. As soon as we walked back in the house he started. No matter what i do for him he whinges!! What should i do? I cant play with him all the time, even though i would love too! :p Is it a normal behaviour at 7 months to whinge? Is anyone else going through it as well? If you can help me it would be greatly appreciated! :D

Heya :D
My 8 month old is the same. Used to be very happy with his own company, but not these days! Its really frustrating trying to keep him happy AND gets things done. But I have little things that are working...
- plop him in the high chair in the kitchen while doing dishes, cooking etc
- plop him in the walker while i'm tidying a room
- plop him on the bed while tidying the bedroom, putting clothes away
- plop him on a blanket on the grass while hanging out washing
- plop him in the jolly jumper in the room you're in
If he wants to still whinge, fine. I'm not compromising too much - as long as he can still see me, then I will let him have a grizzle. I know theres nothing really wrong with him. He just wants to be held all the time, and its just not possible - he's far too heavy!
I am making sure though that I give him lots and lots of cuddly time after a feed. We have a feed on a recliner chair, and afterwards he sits up in between my legs and plays with remote controls, toys etc while i have a few minutes to watch some telly! He likes being close while playing. So i give him that whenever i can.
I find sometimes that the whinging will stop if he is with someone else, and i'm out of the room. Sometimes as soon as he sees me he will have a whinge, just cos he wants me! (not a bad thing that, its great to be loved). But he absolutely loves hanging out with my brother, who lives with us, so when they are together, i sneak away and do some things that i can't do with a bub on the hip.
Anyway you are not alone!! I think its a phase they go through around this age when they realise mummy is a separate person

Your Bubs asserting himself the only way he knows how LOL :D
I went through the same thing with DS, hey hang on a minute I still am going through it :p HEHEHE
DS used to be very content with his own company(he still is most of the time) but then they start to realise just how much they love and need you.......24/7
If his with his daddy he dosent whinge, if his with anyone else for that matter he doesnt whinge but when he gets around me when his:
1.Hungry
2.Tired
3.frustrated
4.sad
5.teething basically any time he needs to have a cuddle LOL then he'll have a good whinge.
I agree with Nicole try and take him with you when your doing stuff, as your boy probably wants to see you and be near you. But hey we all need some "Me Time" so if his just having a little grizzle dont worry about it.....you can tell when your bub really needs you.

Hey Naomi,
Peter does the same thing, he's actually in that mood today.
He normally can occupy himslef, but when he's in the moods that he wont, i do the same thing as Nicole.
I bring him out the backyard in his pram when i have to hang the washing out.
Put him in his activity centre (he sits in the middle and has toys all around him) and bring him in the kitchen when i have to cook, wash up, prepare bottles etc.
I pretty much take him wherever i am in the house.
Or he'll be happy to watch Play School sometimes when i need to do things.
There some days though where nothing i do will keep him happy. Thats when i just have to hold him and cuddle him for alittle while until he's satisfied :)

Raleigh is going through the whingey stage as well. No matter where she's sitting or what she's doing, if I go out of sight she starts to whinge. Thankfully she's like that with her father too so I don't feel like its just me. I try and keep her occupied with lots of toys and things. Sometimes I just let her grizzle for a bit. In a way I'm thankful I go back to work next week. Its daddy's turn to stay with her during the day as when he has days off she's at home with him. :D
