Hi Everyone

My DH and I have just installed our car seat into our 2002 Hyundai Sonata and it seems to move a bit on the seat. I read somewhere recently that in some cars it is necessary to place a rolled up towel or cloth nappy between the car restraint and the back of the seat of the car so that the car restraint doesn't slip around (due to the incline of some actual car seats) but now I can't remember where I read it!

So just wondering if anybody else has installed a child restraint into a similar year Sonata and how did you find it?

Our child restraint is the Safe n Sound Premier Retractor Convertible.

Many thanks

Is it in the middle of the car? I use to have an Excel but had to put it on the side to stop the big wobbles. On the side it still wobbled a bit but I thought it was meant to move a little to reduce friction. Don't quote me though!!

I dont have a Sonata but it does say in my car seat instruction book to use a rolled up towel or padding under the seat for contoured vehicle seats to prevent excessive recline.

I have a Mazda6 and when I got my bub seat fitted the guy used 2 towels - one behind and one below the seat.

(It just so happened that he spotted some old towels I had in the car in case my waters broke while I was out and about. )

Yes, as a PP said, check your instruction manual because our Safe'n'Sound one talked about using a rolled up/folded towel if necessary for stability. Or you could go to a QLD Ambulance station, RACQ or other authorised fitter and get them to fit it or check it for you.
