How long left of work?

now don't get me wrong, i really like my job but after 8 years full-time, i'm ready for the "next stage" and i'm getting excited!!

what job do you do?
how long left til you go on maternity leave?
are you going back to work and if so, when?

i am a library technician in a big university library and have worked here since i was 21, studied online while working full-time and got my degree about 3 years ago.

i have 17 work days! woo hoo! my last day is december 15th, i have a week off before the wedding. i was going to come back after xmas but i will be big and hot so nahhhhhhhh...

i have nearly 17 months off because I have added some long service leave to my parental leave, due back in May 2008 but hoping to be a part-timer for a few years.

I have been working full time now at the same company in Brisbane for 7 years and probably can only afford to have 3 months off work. I tried to see if I could use some of my long service leave as maternity leave, but found out that I can't - have to be here the full 10 years before we can use it. We got married in May this year which was a very expensive wedding, plus building a house - due to be finished in January. I think I will have to work full time right up til the baby's due date!! I have phoned Centrelink and I am not eligible to claim any money not even for child care.......so sad, 'cause I actually need help financially!! But instead the government take my hard earned cash for the other's to stay at home, who probably abuse the system!! :banghead:

how long left til you go on maternity leave? my last day is jan 16, which is exactly 6 weeks before due date.

I dont want to go back to that sort of work, it sucks, but i will find something local, and part time, approx 6 months after birth. Jobs are abundant in Perth. However, just to cover myself, i am not resigning, but am taking maternity leave, you just never know if you need the full time job back.

We really cant afford me to be off work for long, and the baby bonus will only stretch so far - although we are very grateful for it.

I have around 1 weeks sick leave up my sleeve at the moment, so if i feel really huge and tired after christmas, i might leave 1 week earlier than planned, if my doctor will give me a note.

I have worked full time for 15 years, and love working, but have NEVER felt like leaving, as i do now - i cannot wait - it is becoming such a struggle going to work in the mornings. But, only 4 weeks til Chrissie and my ofice closes for the 3 days between Christmas and New Year, so its a 10 day break.
