Hi guys:wave:
I want to do some baking this year for Christmas and give them out as pressies. And I thought the kids would love to get involved. Has anyone got recipies for white christmas or anything else like that? I have looked in all the Christams mags that are out now but they are all dissapointing.
Also anyone got any great salad recipies for Christmas day???
Thanks guys
Merry Christmas:xmas: :tree:

Hi.

Check out the new website www.taste.com.au (http://www.taste.com.au) it has recipes from super food ideas, australian good taste, delicious and others, dating back to the mid nineties. The only down side is it's a new website, so there aren't photos attatched to every recipe.

Good luck!

My mum and I used to make Rocky Road Christmas Trees. They are soo easy. You just make rocky road as per any recipe you have or can find. Instead of cherries we put in little jubes.

Get a piece of cardboard and make it into a cone shape (depending on how big you want to make them) and then turn in upside down in a jug or vase etc. Fill the cone with rocky road and put in fridge to set. Once it's set you simply take the cardboard off and decorate. We used to use small tinsel and wrap it around and uses pins with stars on to secure them in place. You can also drizzle melted choc over it too. Really yummy and really easy and make great gifts for school teachers etc as it looks really effective.:xmas:

A friend of mine make lolly tress. It takes a bit of doing but looks unreal. You need a foam ball (whatever size you want), a piece of thin dowel and a decorative tin or bucket to put the dowel in. You'll need to fill it with something to keep the dowel upright. Then you buy any sort of nice wrapped lollies eg. Lindt balls, roses chocs or whatever. You need small pins and just attach the lollies to the foam ball by pushing the pins through the ends of the wrappers. MAke sure you have enough to cover the whole ball. It takes quite a few lollies.

Hope these help you out.:tree:

Just wanted to say - that I think it wonderful you making lovely things for pressies. :yelclap: When I was younger we always wanted to give friends at school & teachers gifts - no way could mum afford to go out and buy. So we used to make fudge, and candied fruit and wrap in cellophane with a ribbon always went down well...and we loved doing and giving...we also used to decorate oranges with cloves and pin a ribbon loop in the top and then give for people to hang in rooms or wardrobes - smells gorgeous...if u used clementines you could hang on tree too...
Think it so sad these days that children think everything about receiving stuff, or paying cash over the till...it so nice to sit down and as a family make stuff to make others happy.

We always make/bake our christmas gifts. These are some of the past gifts we've given:

flavoured oils - chilli; herb; carrot
marinated feta (make it yearly as everyone loves it so much)
lemon curd
mango and lime curd
shortbread
fudge
one year I made origami boxes which we filled with ginger cookies.

Have fun baking.
