I think that is what I have, I have a small lump (of breast milk) on my right boob just near my arm. I have had this full before and managed to clear it although I don't know what I did to fix it. I tried a heat pack, and then baby but that didn't work, so I went overnight and the night feeds didn't clear it.

But in the morning, I rolled onto this boob and it hurt like ####! Then while laying down put baby on the breast and felt the lump disapear and blockage gone.

I don't know what I did to unblock it, is it just time or something I did? How should I fix it this time? as its quite painfull until its sorted.

It does sound as though you have had a blocked duct.

You can try applying a heat pack/ warm face washer, then gently massaging in circles around the blockage with your finger tips to loosen the blockage before you feed. Also nursing with your baby in different positions often helps - this may be why breastfeeding while lying down helped.

Prevention is probably better though - is your baby skipping any feeds? Are you using a strict feeding schedule? Breasts need to be well drained/ soft after feeds ( they will never be completely "empty).

Are you wearing clothing that may be causing pressure to an area of your breast - ie a bra or nursing top that is tightly fitted? This can press and cause blockages.

Take it easy and perhaps read a good book about breastfeeding - ABA are offering a breastfeeding book free with membership or try Breastfeeding With Confidence by Sue Cox - also available from Mothers Direct.
