View Full Version : Is she really hungry???

My 5 month old little girl wakes up every night approx 12pm and 2:30am. Then again at 4:30am (catnaps onwards from there).

Each and every time she wakes, she will not self settle, even though she puts herself to sleep when it is bedtime and she wants feeding.

Is she just stuck in this routine because I always feed her, or is she really hungry? She won't go back to sleep unless I feed her and if I ignore her she starts whinging/crying. From 4:30am onwards she sleeps with me, because my hubby gets up for work but she will feed on/off for the next two hours. Quite happy to sleep with me in her mouth. This is really bad isn't it! But if I take it away from her and try to put in the dummy, she will cry again.

So is it hunger? Or is she used to this happening? Or is it something else???
PLEASE HELP!

Perhaps your little one is having a growth spurt or teething and is finding the breast really soothing at the moment. I would suggest keeping her in bed with you... we did with our daughter and it was wonderful. Not a bad thing at all....

It really maximised everyone's sleep.

If you are uncomfortable with cosleeping, you can always put her crib in a side care arrangement next to your side of the bed (with the section of the cot that goes up and down removed and your bed and the cot clamped together) and then shuffler her across when she is back to sleep.

Hope that helps.
