you're so right, natasha. last night i stepped on a toy tambourine and slid across the floor, adding 'sh*t' along the way. spencer thought it was so funny that he imitated me sliding on the tambourine, complete with the 'sh*t'. oh yes i'm going to have towash my mouth out with soap.
ally - i've been locked out once but fortunately someone was inside and rescued me.
i've also got a clean freak. hope it lasts until he leaves home....
I'm so worried that Andrew is going to come out with the 'f' word. DH just can't stop himself, especially when he is on the phone to work mates.
I think I'll have to tell him about Spencer and the 's' word to put the wind up him!
Funny thing - the last 2 days Andrew has been carrying around this BIG stuffed toy dog that he has on his bed. He generally uses it as a 2nd pillow. Anyway he is carrying it EVERYWHERE and he just 'woof's allllll dayyyy long. Its like living at the RSPCA. Crazy child!
Hi Guys,
I'M BACK!! Had a great time at my Mum's place... felt so strange walking 'home' from the trainstation. I Haven't caught the train up to Mum's for about 4 years!! very nostalgic.
You know the strangest thing... i didn't REALLY miss the boys. I thought about them, and wondered what they were doing, and kept looking at the time and thinking... " they'll be having morning tea now...They'll be watching Hi-5 now...they'll be going to bed now". But I didn't REALLY REALLY miss them. I think it was because I knew they were safe.
Yeah they clean too. Every time there's a cloth or tea towel they clean everything. In the bath Jordan's washing his own face with the washer, adn when I put shampoo in his hair he uses his little hands to scrub it all in.... Oliver doesn't like washing his hair, but he'll quite happily tip the water on Jordie's head.
They aren't talking yet:no: They'll say Mumma and Dadda... and Oliver says 'dog' and Jordan says 'yuk' and that's about it. I don't get it though coz they LOVE reading. They devour books.. we're reading all day, and we talk to them all day and I alwasy ask lots of questions, and explain things in 'real' language  ... but they're just not doing it yet.... Oh well.
DS also had a moment were he must have had a really Sh*t day because that was all he kept saying ALL day.
Funny, because I never really thought of myself as a big swearer - the only swear word that have ever really succumbed to is the S word and when I am really pushed to the limit I'll let out the F word which has now become "Fire Truck". But I guess when your going from one disaster scene to the next, there really isn't much that you can say.
Thomas has neat freak tendencies for brief moments of the day, but then he goes and destroys it all by destroying the whole house behind me before I can finish fixing the first disaster - little monster.:devil6: Then when you tell him off he tilts his head and smiles cutely like "you can't get mad at this face mummy " :banghead:.
Does anyone else experience this seemingly endless cycle of sorting out one disaster after the next.
Like cleaning up the paperwork that DS has just distributed nicely over the floor, to turn around to find DS using the mop to empty the mop bucket water over the floor, clean that up to turn around and find that DS has turned the oven on, then turn around and find that DS has emptied the dog water bowl, to return to the kitchen to find that DS has emptied the entire box of cornflakes onto the floor, then after cleaning that up find that DS has retrieved his hidden stool in the bathroom and is now trying to clean the dogs teeth with MY TOOTHBRUSH! etc, etc, etc.
Does anyone else have days like these or is it just me?
Once I found my DD starting to pour the water from out of the jug on to the floor. She some how managed to get it out of the fridge while my back was turned while I was heating up her weetbix in the microwave. Didn't hear her make any noise when suddenly I heard a strange noise and that's when I went noooo. She was very casual about it must have thought hmmm this is interesting something I haven't tried before.
Today she got upset when I was putting a dress on her. She doesn't normally wear dresses but being a hot day and wondering if the dress fits her I thought why not. I told her 'what's the matter little girls wear dresses and your a little girl, it's a nice dress.' This didn't work so I put a DVD on to distract her this worked she was fine for the rest of the day then.
Ha HA   Fraggle that seems like my life!!! TIMES TWO!! It's one disaster after the next... cleaning all day! eg: This morning. DS1 pulls all the books of the bookshelf, ds2 pulls everything out of the changetable (this is before they even get out of their cots!!) hanging the washing ds1 disappears, ds2's throwing a tanty, find ds1 rearranging the plate cupboard and trying to 'cook' his plastic food on the real stove. meanwhile ds2 has pulled all the clean (but wet) washing out of the basket and dumped it all in the garden. Back inside ds1 is eating the toothpaste, ds2 throws a tanty because i take the washing off him. ds1's finished with the toothpaste and is trying to wash his hair by emptying the whole shampoo bottle on his head (climbed from the bathtub to the bench)
this is all before 9:30 am!!!
aahhh.. nap time... first time they've actually gone for a daytime sleep this week!

gret_bliss...I don't know how you do it....to have 2 little toddlers running around all day...well, in my books you are a super mummy!!!!
bub has been soooooo grizzly the past few days...everything is "no"...he goes to the fridge or the pantry and wants to pick what he wants to eat....which would be fine...but all he wants is his yoghurt or sultanas or tiny teddies...that's it...literally...he hasn't eaten a decent dinner in over a week. Tonight I managed (well, DF did cause I was about to kill DS) to get weetbix into him and a muffin.
his talking is really coming along...new words this week "door, meanie, uh-oh, knee"...oh, and when I say "what does santa say"...bub says "oh, oh, oh"
I painted his toenails the other day (don't ask...it was either that or I was going to go mental at him...I needed to distract him & me)...now I have to hide my nail polish cause everytime he sees it he goes "pain, pain, pain" .....he wants them painted again....DF doesn't find this amusing...I secretly do:D
anyone elses bub petrified of santa?

Has anyone got any great ideas for low key 2nd birthdays??
We are going VERY low key. Just the family at our house, nibblies and drinks etc. And a train cake this year, for our train obsessed young man.
We're planning on taking Andrew on his first trip to the zoo for his birthday, so the plans at this stage are to stay a night or two up the coast and go to Australia Zoo and maybe also Underwater World.
I know that he's not going to know or care about the fact that its his birthday, so I don't see the need to have too big a fuss about a party :) TBH, I don't think I'm going to be "into" parties until school-age :o

Same here Boof's will be low key probably just with close family & friends.
And after the disaster with his 1st birthday cake im going to be daring & make his 2nd birthday  ..... Poor bugger !!!!
gret_bliss - I agree with BG i really dont know how you do it !!!! Boof drives me mental the house looks a constant mess & he is non-stop. I see you have a :bfp: congrats & it looks like we may be due around the same time :D

the train cake is a great idea, Nicole. spencer has become a little trainspotter which is competing as a hobby with his plane spotting, helicopter spotting, tram spotting and so on and so on.
and i'm with you all on the constant mess. as i clean, spencer uncleans. the other week i was washing the dishes and turned around in time to see him pouring his juice into the front loading washing machine. little %$#@^&!
Spencer's Mum- Oh dear I hope that doesn't become a new habit.
My dd is funny at the moment she doesn't like ants as soon as she sees one like on the wall the look on her face is so funny.:laughing:She looks very annoyed. Today she was complaining because there was an ant on her arm she came over to me and I squashed it and said 'there you go all gone now' she then put my arms around me and gave me a big hug.
I think we'll just have a small party too with just close friends and family thinking of doing a Winnie the Pooh theme as she loves him and the others too. Besides I have already bought the Pooh bear party stickers for when I scrapbook her photos.
Well, DD is growing up so fast! She can just repeat everything I say now. There is just an endless stream of new words. She can repeat a whole sentence back to me. This morning i said ' go to your room and get your coat from your bed'.
Well, didnt she just turn around and copy it almost word for word!
She said 'Go woom get coat fom bed' whilst nodding and toddling off to do it. I couldnt believe it!!! She knows some of her colors now, just blue, red and yellow. Can point at the right one and say its name.
She can count to 3 sometimes, when she wants to,,, I say one, she says 'two, three'.
Shes been really fussy with her food lately, just doesnt seem to be hungry. Im trying to not let it get to me.
She got so much for Christmas, I think she kind of understood what was happening this year.
lol I came into the livivng room one day last week to see she had opened all the little boxes on my advent calender and had mushed all the chocolate into my carpet..
Note to self----dont have carpets with next child.
Hi Everyone. Well it's been ages since I've popped in. I read the last dozen posts or so and did a big sigh of relief. Thank goodness I'm not the only one going through all the cleaning and craziness.
It's exciting having birthday time come around again. Ds goes beserk over anything with wheels, so I thought I'd make him a truck cake. Does anyone have any good ideas? I found this one http://members.nuvox.net/~zt.proicer/cakepict/semi.htm but it looks pretty tricky. He's also got a zillion food allergies, so I'll have to do a fair bit of modification.
We're just having family too, which will be more than enough.
Well Max has been really slow to start talking, but he's coming out with a few words now - Mum, Dad, nah (that's his favourite  ), more, duck and maybe a few others. Hopefully he'll start socialising a bit more next year and that will increase his vocab. He loves his books too, espeically truck magazines  . It's amazing how he knows the names of so many construction vehicles - and now I do too. hmmm. Now when I'm out and about I seem to be permanently tuned in to trucks, buses, excavators, cranes and lawn mowers. hehe. very cute.
That's cute Cathy :) I hope everyone had a great Christmas and happy new year to everyone. That's good Natasha that your DD is saying lots of words.

hi everyone! has anyone had any birthday parties? spencer's got his on sunday. i ordered a thomas the tank engine cake today. yes, too slack to make my own. actually i'm hopeless with cakes so i'm doing everyone a favour.
Hi Jac. Yes the big 2 on Sunday!! How exciting. I'll have to remember to take a pic of the truck cake. It's anyones guess how that will turn out.
Yup we had DD's 2nd birthday party last Saturday!!! Huge party, lots of bouncy castles and food etc! We bought 2 big cakes!!!:D One for the kids, and one for me!:D
Lots of bubhubbers came with their children and we all had lots of fun!!
DD was really well behaved!! As were all the kids!
It was the first big party Id ever thrown so I was so glad it all turned out okay. I think we had about 50 people all up!!:smiliedance:
Now, to get planning her 3rd!! hahaha
We still have a month and a bit to go until the big 2. We still haven't made any plans, I think we will be going awfully low key. We're still recovering from Christmas, so it won't be anything too spectacular!
How are all the other toddlers going? Andrew is talking up a storm lately and quickly learning which words get the best responses. He came up to me, sweet as pie, this morning and asked me for a "muesli bar, please mummy?", batting his eyelids and putting on all the charm.
He is finally getting a decent head of hair too! With any luck we might get his first hair cut in the next month or so. Hooray!

No plans yet but we still have ages & if im still the same there wont be any but a basic party at my mums ! Me with bucket in hand
I did want to make Boof's cake this time but i will get my mum to make something as she loved making mine when i was little !
Noo - Least Andrew is being cute all the time lol Boof only does it when he gets into trouble or knows he has done wrong. The eyelids start batting furiously etc etc.
His latest trick is telling me to " Go away " if im interupting him ! Or if he gets frustrated he is saying " C'mon mummy !!! " ala Lleyton Hewitt. Yes makes me feel all so muchy inside
Oh & he has started on the wanting doors closed & even the baby gates lol we get a stern talking to if they arent closed :shame:
For a child who wants The Wiggles on the t.v nearly all day yet never watches them lol he has learnt many songs ! Its like they are a comfort to him or something as i said he doesnt care about watching them but they must be on ! Weird child ! But tis so cute waking up to him singing " Dorothy The Dinosaur " especially when he cant say all the words lol !
Hope all the bubbies are well :D
Great to hear that the 2nd birthdays went well. I hope everyone else's children who have 2nd birthdays coming up all go well too.:)
My DD's is in Feb. Don't want a big party just family and a few close friends.
My DD tries to sing 'Baa Baa black sheep', 'Twinkle Twinkle' and 'Row,Row your boat'.
She's able to open the pantry and isn't happy if she can't have a biscuit. She stands there pointing and saying 'bikie' Loves reading and is often chatting away to herself looking at her books.
Yesterday she sat on the potty for the first time didn't do anything but it's a start. Seemed quite happy with herself.
Would be nice if she wouldn't turn the computer on and off one of her favorite past times at the moment. Often telling her to leave it alone.:shame:

LJane, the bikkie thing sounds familiar! Spencer does the same thing but calls them 'bicks'.
Wattle - good luck with the birthday party on Sunday. That's when we're having ours. Looks like the weather will be warm.
Anyone else getting the 'mummy, mummy' constantly?? spencer does it in the car and won't give in until i turn around and look at him. makes driving difficult!

Do you mind if I rejoin the Jan-Mar babies??
Hmmm well DS is copying everything we say - he doesnt really have a wide vocabulary of words he actually understands though, and hasn't started putting words together!? (When did you little people start putting words together?) He does call out 'MAAA' at the top of his lungs all the time until I turn around and say yes! The other day I gave him a bikky and he said 'ta' and I said 'your welcome', so he kept saying 'ta, ta, ta' loving the response he got from me - it was so cute! He has leant how to throw a really good wobbly too - not real proud of that one though! Especially when he practises in the shopping centre!! How do you guys deal with the tanties? At the moment I try comfort him, if he doesn't want a bar of that, then I ignore him?! Not really sure what else to do about it! He also loves dragging the kitchen chairs to all the spots he can't reach, so I really have to keep an eye on him now! The other day I went into the kitchen and found 3 chairs awol!! Anyway hope your cherubs are all doing great!!
Oh yeah...Mummy, Mummy is a constant refrain in this house. ESPECIALLY at dinner time, when I'm trying to cook. He just hangs off my legs, or sometimes sets up camp on the floor between my ankles and its just 'mummy, mummy' on repeat until I pick him up. I'm trying to train my DH to entertain Andrew for those 15 minutes instead, but its apparently a slow learning process

happybirthday to the gorgeous Max for today.
How did the party go, Wattle? Great day, huh. We went to the Botanical Gardens and it was packed. We were lucky to find a patch of grass under a tree. Spencer had a ball. In fact, he was too wired for a nap so there'll be hell to pay in an hour or so.
Hello, hello sugar n spice and Harmony83.

Hello...haven't posted for a while in this section.
I'm having the same trouble as a few of you with DS just saying "mum, mum, mum, mum, mum" allllllll the time, seriously is driving me bloody nuts he doesn't even want to play byhimself or potter around...I have to be with him...like within 1 metre of him every second of the day...I really hope this is a stage.
I tried the toilet training...going to give it another month or two...seems to be all a bit too much for bub at the mo'.
On a brighter note...his swimming is really coming along....he now kicks like crazy and only has one part on each floatie blown up.
Today he came out with a heap of new words: "suprise, bad, bike, two, hello" all clear as anything
Now for the bad words..."beer" and ......after me calling FIL an "old wog" (its ok I'm half greek too...so I'm allowed to use the word :) )...DS now looks at his grandad and points and goes "wog" :o ...how embarrasment!!!

Boof is obsessed too SnS & its driving me nuts !!! The moment he wakes up he wants them on but as i said doesnt watch them oh its sooo sending me bonkers ! I now have dreams about them etc :banghead: I know all the words etc auauuuugh !
Havent been harassed too much of late because poor daddy has been doing everything because i have been so unwell have to say its nice not to be followed around all the time with the mummy mummy mummy mummy lol poor DP now gets daddy daddy daddy hahahahah !
We have had a run on words & sentences this last week too. He now calls my mum "Gn" which should be Gran lol he was using plane & bus the other day but has reverted to calling them all "cars" & calling cars "brmm brooms" again lol. He now uses "cmon" all the time along with "aha!". He counts to three but we are trying to get him to go to five lol, he takes his steps & says "one two threee!". I thought he had no idea what he was talking about but it seems he may ! Oh the funny thing is he will also say "im four!" hahah we keep trying to tell him he is only 2 even though not quite there yet ! But he still says he is four !
He will now see me with my cup of milo & say "ooooh hot" & then blow lol because we taught him to blow on his food if its hot. He had fish fingers tonite & sat there saying "ooooh mummy, mummy ooooh hot" blowing on them ... Tooo cute !
Ok i had better shut up before i start sounding like those mums who think their kids are better than everyone elses :o

no way, bubbaganoush - i love hearing about what everyone's kids are up to.
we are in the middle of a huge wiggles obsession. spencer got some new wiggles dvds for his birthday - thank goodness! i was getting thoroughly sick of the one we've got.
Another Wiggles obsessed one here. The Wiggles are like the soundtrack and background to our life. Its almost constantly on, even if he isnt' watching it, he likes to have it on.
Its rather tragic that Mummy and Daddy will sit down and watch them as well. I've seen them a trazillion times. I was seriously thinking about going and buying some more yesterday, cos the 9 or so we have are driving me batty. But seriously...I think we need groceries more than we need another Wiggles dvd.
I bought a Wiggles music dvd at Christmas, so he can listen to them without watching tv...the look on his face is priceless every time I turn it on - he's just not quite sure where they are...must be hiding somewhere :D
Hi everyone.
Well the party was a huge success. Max was so well behaved and loved his special day. He got pretty excited about his cake, and we had pizza too which was nice and easy.
Heres a few pics

It was even better fun than last year because he knew what was going on.
Does anyone else find that the grandmothers are a bit competetive? Perhaps it's just a grandmother thing, but I find it uncomfortable. I guess they both just want to be the 'favourite granny'. *sigh* It's a bit nauseas when the "oooooh daaaaarlings" start happening though.
Actually I was looking at my kids today and wondered what I'll do in the future that will make them cringe. ha.
Wow wattle!! What a fantastic cake!!!:yelclap:
Looks like he had so much fun!!!!
Im kinda glad DD's birthday is all over and done with now. Me thinks next year can be a quiet one.:p
Well, DD's behaviour has done a 180 in the last 2 weeks. I think its because her speech has come on so rapidly in the time. She doesnt get so frustated. She can ask for pretty much anything she wants now and I can understand her.
She is really plesant to be around, which makes me want to be around her more and play with her and make more time for her, which in turn makes her happier so we all win.:yelclap:
She loves asking questions at the mo. Her faves are ' Where's it gone?' "can I have that please?' what are you doing?' What have you done to me?' (no idea where that came from) 'Now why would you do that?' hehe thats what i say to her when she has been naughty. "i want a drink' 'play with toys?'
Oh and whenever I go the toilet she comes in (ofcourse because i cant go the toilet alone these days)..........and she says '''ewwww poo, you smell'!! Even when im just having a wee!!! I say to her mummy doesnt smell!!! And she says 'DO! YOU SMELL..ewwww!! HAHAHA
We bought her her first dolls house last week. Guess the first place she put the mummy doll..yup in the kitchen!!!!
Guess what she did with daddy...........she said 'daddy go poo, stuck him on the toilet, then daddy go bath, then daddy got put into bed!! hahahahaha (thats his usual routine).
I said 'mummy go bed too'.......she said 'no........mummy no bed' and then proceded to put me in the fridge! hahahahaha
Gotta love em at this age!!
LOL   Nasha sounds like things are going great and your all having fun.
Great photos Wattle.
Sounds like those that have had birthday parties so far have all gone well.
My DD instists that things are to be all done in a certain way or she gets very annoyed about it.
Also I have to do certain things or she throws a wobbly about it.
Anyone else have this problem?
She's ok about DH giving her a bath as this is DH's job and she's used to this.
But when it comes to putting her in the highchair, changing her nappy etc... it has to be me or she'll really complain about it.
With counting everything is two whenever there is more than one of something.
Otherwise everything is going well apart from the temper tamtrums.

i was hoping u all didn't mind if i just joined in. DD is 2 in 8 days and i've been a member on BH for about 18months now and not once come across this thread???! Ne way i think i've met a few of u around the forum in other threads and so on, i'd really love to join in the convo's as we all know this is such and exciting time of our little one's lives and we all just want to blab about them at everychance we get, (atleast we know that some one will want to listen on BH that's the beauty of it lol)

Yay, Anna. Smart girl. Spencer's counting sounds like 'blah, two, eh, uh'.
Anyone else's toddler been in the wars? Spencer had his first encounter with a bee the other week and came off second best. And then he came to blows with a table and ended up with an egg between the eyebrows and a gigantic bruise. I wonder they survive to become preschoolers!

Hehehehe sounds like numbers are the go hey !
Harry says a few but prefers 123 hehe the rest is like Spencer being mumbo jumbo !
Not much else happening here just have Boof being very whingey all the time & rather than him telling me what he wants he just sooks. Rather strange suppose its just a stage.
Was given a great website by the wonderful RB about toilet training thought a few of you might find it handy. the second link is checklist to know when they are ready !

Anyways i hope this finds everyone well & toddlers being cheeky monkeys !
Andrews counting at the moment is bizarre. Every week he has a different combination. At the moment he holds his fingers up and says 'two, three, TEN!'. Flat out refuses to say 'one' and is too enamoured with ten to bother learning four and five.
He's always in the wars, always going so quickly and not paying attention. His legs are always covered with bruises. At the moment he has a lovely bruise at the top of his nose between his eyes. Yesterday he thought it would be a good way to get attention from mummy - bang his head into the dining table. Joy.
He is getting taller...now he can open the grocery cupboard. So we had to go to a new level of child-proofing once we discovered that. I also caught him the other day trying to lever a high handle with a toy to try to open it, so will have to be watching out for more houdini moves.
He loves to help though - when I hang out the washing, he likes to hand me the next item. Very cute. I wonder at what age is starts to become a dreaded chore, rather than a fun thing to do with Mummy? :D
He loves colouring in at the moment, praise those washable pens I say! As much as he loves drawing on paper, its much more fun to draw all over himself. Today he is sporting a lovely green tinge on his arms and legs. Just beautiful :D
Can you tell I'm starved for conversation today? hehe.
Hope everyone else is well!

Oh Nicole just wait till he is tall enough to open the doors in the house thats just sooooo much fun. NOT !
You cant stop Boof at all !!!!!! Drives me batty !
Oh & he opens & shuts the sliding doors. Lots of fun when you think oh i can duck this out to the bin quickly he wont notice .... Then locks you out
All keys are now kept on my person !
Love washable pens & crayons otherwise our lounge would be covered in crayon still as would my dining table lol !
I also figure if he wants to help with chores im quite happy for it to be a chore. Im considering changing his "dusty" the vacuum cleaner ( Playskool toy ) for a hand held vax lol what the heck he can do it for real :p
He already stuffs his nappies !!!!!!
Im thinking once they realise its work they will stop so give em another year or so !

thanks for the links, ally. i have to tell you i have no idea how to go about toilet training. my partner is so keen to get spencer started but i think he's not ready. my partner has been telling me about one of spencer's friends (a little girl who's 2 months older) who is toilet trained. this doesn't help. 1. it's not good to make comparisons 2. this little girl has always been quick on the uptake - her vocab is very advanced and 3. it's about about spencer being ready, not about daddy wanting to toilet train him.
phew....vent over....

Jacqui I totally agree !!!!
Ive had my mother badgering me about TT Boof & honestly its driving me batty ! She is normally very laid back about allowing us to parent etc how we want but for whatever reasons she has her knickers in a twist over this !
She thinks because i use cloth i will get inundated with washing etc  I mean seriously Boof hardly uses many nappies now so rather than washing every 3rd day i go back to every 2nd & do a full load instead of half !!!! Big Whoop !!!!
She has even gone out & bought him a potty as well as a toilet seat for her house :banghead:
She keeps saying it will also be easier for me to have him TT when bubs comes cause it will help me WTH !?!?!? We all know he will wait till i sit down to feed bubs to need to go & yeah thats going to be real "easy".
He is nowhere near ready & im not pushing him when it will only make matters worse ! I would rather wait & have him happy with only a few mishaps instead of having a stressed out child wetting himself etc. He will let me know when its time !
Im lucky in that DP agrees lmao he is actually dreading it more than i am !!!!! So he is happy for me to say lets wait ! I really hope your DP realises that Spencer will do it when he is ready ! Good luck !
This TT business is hard isn't it!! I don't think mines ready either...she has done a few wees on the potty, but I don't think she realised, she just happened to be sitting on it before her shower, and she didn't really take any notice of the big fuss I made when she did it.
I'm not looking forward to TT at all...the main factor being is that DD does mainly mushy poos (sorry tmi) and I just know it's going to get EVERYWHERE!
MIL is all excited too, she keeps mentioning that she wants ds to start using a potty. I don't think she gets that its not up to her, it's up to ds. Never mind.
I just think its going to be awkward trying to do the wiping bit while he's standing up. I'm not good at putting a nappy on a toddler that's trying to run away either :o
See this is where my MIL is good. She already thinks Im trying to make DD grow up 'before her time' because she was off the bottles and onto cups when she was 14-15 months. I think that was a perfectly normal age but no.
So MIL is always telling me to not even bother until shes at least 2 and a half.:p
Tell you what, shes a battle axe in some ways, but such a doll in others.
Whats a pain though is my sisters boys were all potty trained by 2 (in the UK). She has 3 kids under 4 and has them all out of nappies. So whenever I ring up to speak to my nan, shes always asking how anna is doing with TT. I tell her im not really trying yet and its 'oh..pause.......okay then..........well........all children are different you know........some just develop and come on quicker then others........mind you people always say girls are quicker than boys.......but if you dont think shes ready...............':banghead:
Stoopid people.
DD sits on the potty and has done a few wees ect, but she still doesnt know when shes about to do one. So im not even trying yet.

Hi everyone,
I was about to post here yesterday but my internet died-typical!
Im Kelly, my DS is Seth. He will be 2 on 27th March.
I just read all the posts about TT and Im soooooooo glad Im not the only one going through the pressure from family to TT DS. I bought a potty cause "everyone says 18 months is good th start". Well DS is no where near ready and so Im going to wait till he's had his 2nd birthday and see where he is at - but I think it will prolly be closer to 2 1/2 yrs.
Emerald: my DS still has alot of runny poos too (sorry TMI) so I dont think its a good time for him to start LOL.
Allyoo: I agree with you, it would be much easier with your eldest in nappies when bub arrives, I mean yeah youd be feeding new bub and that would definatly be when DS wants to go potty.
Sometimes I feel like saying "oh yeah he's TT" just to shut people up including my mum and family. But like I said to my mum the other day, he wont be 5 and at school in nappies so dont stress whether its now or 6 months time. Dont think she liked that LOL.
On another topic .... what have you ladies done for your kids 2nd birthdays???
Sorry to ramble on so long,
Kel
Hi Kelly
Glad I'm not the only one dealing with runny/mushy poos! I wish they'd hurry up and firm up lol.
I'm still deciding what to do for DD's 2nd birthday....I'm tossing up between just a cake (it's got to be a wiggles cake or I'm in trouble:p ) with family or having a little combined party at a play centre with some of her playgroup friends and our family/cousins etc.I have just under 3 weeks to decide so I had better hurry up so I can book things etc.
What are your plans?
Gosh, funny all this talk about mushy poos. Thats also my reason for not pushing the toilet training yet. He likes to talk about, likes to sit on the potty etc. But until those poos are more solid, I won't even think about it seriously.
But on that topic...yesterday afternoon we had a normal poo! It was soooo tragically exciting...even Andrew got excited, though I'm sure he didn't understand why. There is hope yet.
Isn't it funny how we can all talk of poo so easily. How bizarre :D
ImSethsMum
28-01-2007, 19:32
Yep I never though the topic of poo could interest me LOL. I remember after DS had a bad case of gastro and his poo finally got back to normal - I was sooooo excited hehehehe tragic hey!
As for Seths birthday I really dont know what to do. I cant afford a lunch thing like we did for his first birthday. With 40+ people at that one it cost me a fortune to cater. Im thinking an arvo tea with just party food & cake???
I also am stuck for a venue. Our house is too small, but we did the park thing last year so kinda wanted something different. Any ideas would be great !!!
The wiggles cake sounds great Emerald! Im doing a '2' cake with some toy cars on top. Seth loves the cars movie so thats my theme. I managed to find some Cars party hats, cups, party bags etc. Cant find the Cars party invites anywhere though.
Did everyone else have a theme???
Oh here I am rambling again!
Luv Kel
Yeah,I'm sort of stuck for a venue too...my place is too small too...thats why I'm thinking of hiring out the party room at the soft play centre. Also I like the idea of someone else having to clean up the mess the kids make!:D
I think the arvo tea thing sounds good..don't have any suggestions as to where to have it though, sorry. And the cake sounds great too.

Yeah I thought about the party rooms at a play centre - trouble is the ones around us charge a fortune for the food so works out too much. mmmmm might have to be the park LOL.

I've booked a playcentre for my bub's 2nd coming up on the 9th of Feb....only reason I did this was because of the heat at the moment - we don't have air-con or a pool...so didn't like the thought of 25 hot kids running around.
Plus...I'm a bit lazy....no washing up etc.
I did a huge party for him last year in a park...it was a great hit:thumbsup:

I was looking on ebay (as you do LOL) and came across a lady who does personalied invitations. She has sooooo many nice ones and heaps of the licenced stuff like My little pony, Thomas the Tank, Bob the Builder, Cars (woohoo), Fairies, Bratz etc. They are $1.30 each so for 10 its $13 but soooooo nice - Im really thinking about getting some! I figured I could scan one and email some of the people online to save money. Would you guys spend $13 & postage just for party invites ???? I normally wouldnt but Ive gone and got alot of Cars themed stuff for the party and Hallmark no longer sell the invitation pads for Cars. These ones are printed like photos with magnets for the fridge so rather flash (not just plain cardboard or paper)
God I sound so pathetic LOL I know the kids wont know the difference - but we never have parties or people over etc so its kinda my one 'thing' a year that I can make a fuss of ..... Tell me what you think - and be honest, if I need a swift kick in the rear then tell me LOL
Luv Kel
Go for it Kel!! Like you said,it's not an everyday thing,it's your sons birthday,a special day,so why not make the most of it.I'd probably keep one too to put into his memory box (if you have made one).I think it's great that your putting so much effort into his birthday.
I've decided to just hold DD 's party at my mums now, with just family, and one or two little friends, but I'm still going to go all out on wiggles party stuff for my DD,like cups and plates, balloons etc...I just hope spotlight Spartys sell them, haven't looked yet.

Thanks darl! I saw a great range of Wiggles stuff at the party shop near my mums. Where do you live? There are a few websites with stuff but the prices vary heaps. Ebay has some great stuff too. I got sucked in at the party shop .... they had a foil cars balloon done up with a weight and four balloons (two red and two white with checkered flags) and lots of red and black ribbons - it looked amazing ..... so I ordered one for the table - God Im a shocker LOL. Cost me $19 but oh who cares LOL.
Who else has parties coming up???? or pics of parties just been ???
Luv Kel
Those balloons sound great. Your son is going to have a ball.
I'm in nsw...I'm going to spartys in the next few days to check it out...Is that where you meant you saw them?? I did see some wiggles party stuff on ebay last night too, will keep it in mind.

Im in Brisbane so no different place LOL.
Ok ta....Lol,knew you were in Brisbane, just wanted to make sure it was Spartys,as they'd have the same stuff down here, and not some other party shop.:)
My DD's birthday is coming up in two weeks time. Having a party in a indoor playcentre and having a ediable icing sugar picture of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet couldn't find it in any of the shops so ended up finding it on Ebay. So all we need to do now is find a cake.
As for the toliet training so far she has seen the potty so she isn't afraid of it maybe sat on it a few times not actualy done anything though. Bought some underwear and she had a strange look on her face when I told her I want to see if it fits. Wasn't too sure about it. I don't think she is really ready quite yet but will get there.:)

The party sounds like it will be great fun, you'll have to let us know how it goes :)

hi Jan-Mar mums and dads.
well, spencer had his first haircut the other week. he loved it but i was sad to see the baby curls go. he looks like a little boy now. my baby's gone...:crying: i've saved the hair in a plastic bag. has anyone else's little one had the first chop?
Aww! What a momentous occasion! Sad and scary.
Andrew is yet to have the chop. He has lovely baby curls, but they're not long enough to trim yet.
I can't believe he is 2 and hasn't had his 1st haircut yet...and every other 2 year old I know has a full head of hair!! :o

Oh i havent even been able to bring myself to do it but now i think i may have to !
Everyone keeps harassing me to do it but omg i cant cut those curls !!!!
Here is a piccie : http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y270/Allyooooooo/BoofCurls.jpg
Was starting to get rather worried about that fact Boof still only had 10 teeth but in the last 2 wks he has cut another 5 & we are still cutting 2 this week it seems ! So phew no dramas with teeth for us it seems !
Boof is saying so much now tis hilarious. He even tells DP & i when we are being "naughty" lol.
We are still having dramas with his behaviour at times which is driving me around the bend because everytime i try to reprimand him for doing wrong i either have something thrown at me or he hits my belly. I think he realises life is going to change soon & he isnt happy !
Otherwise not much else to report !
Hope this finds everyone well

oh, Ally...those curls are sooooo cute...don't cut them off....Christian had his 4th haircut a few months back and his curls are actually growing back :smiliedance: I missed them so much.
I am love love loving this age!!! My bub has turned into such a little man. His fav things to do at the moment are:-
- dancing to Abba's "Money , money, money" song
- asking every person that we past in the street "who's that?"
- whenever he (or me & DP) does something wrong he says "oh dear".
- taking his imaginary bear friends everywhere
- going out to cafes with his mummy for choccie milkshakes...he is sooo well behaived.
Hope everyone & their littlies are doing great...I've been slack posting here for a while.
No way am I even trying to cut Anna's afro!!
The curls are too tight to even get a brush through!!
To the mums whos kiddies have had haircuts......Did you cut them yourselves? Or did you actualy get them to a hairdresser???? :yelclap:
We bit the bullet and gave Andrew a trim last night after his bath - while it was wet it was reasonably straight. When its dry its chaotic fluffy curls.
Its amazing how much a little snip here and there has changed his appearance. So cute. Must remember to take a photo!
I have a little snaplock bag half full of teeny weeny baby curls now...

thanks for the photos, BG and ally, your kids are gorgeous. this age is loads of fun as well as being challenging. today, spencer said his first vietnamese words! we went to the local shop where one of the girls who works there greeted spencer with a 'xin chao' (which is 'hello') and he came out out with a little 'xin chao'. too cute!
natasha - we had spencer's hair cut at a local hairdresser. two young guys sat down either side of him and took in turns cutting his hair while he admired himself in the mirror
Noo - i've got the hair in a bag too.
Ooh, a bi-lingual toddler! Could there be anything cuter!! :yelclap:

icelandic? now that would be cool. boof would the only kid in preppies who could speak icelandic, for sure.
ally - this was the first haircut for spencer so it was a novelty. i'm sure the next time will be entirely different.
BG- your son had nice curls.
Ally that is a nice pic.
We haven't yet been to the hairdresses thinking of DD's teeth checked apprently they can check them at this age. To get them used to going to the dentist.
My DD had her birthday recently it was a hot day but it still went well. She had fun at the playcentre and the Winnie the Pooh cake turned out well. Got lots of nice things we bought her a Mrs.Potato head that she loves playing with everyday.:)

I keep forgetting about this thread:o Anyone else toilet training?
red crayon
07-03-2007, 17:17
Good to hear your daughter's birthday went well, LJane. Gotta love those Potato Heads!
Oscar's Mum - i've sort of started toilet training. i've bought a potty and have introduced spencer to it. he's got a vague idea of what to do. this morning, he filled his nappy and then sat on the potty  i'm sure we'll get there.
how's everyone going with the other 'TT'? tantrum taming. spencer has tossed a few beauties this week. how does everyone else deal with them?
Toilet training...we're not really gung ho on it yet. Andrew has the potty, knows what its for. He is at the stage where he knows he needs to do a poo, and he'll take his nappy off and sit on the potty. But it takes about 20 mins from "i need to" until "now!" and by that time he starts to get a bit panic-y and wants a new nappy on.
He knows the theory...it'll just be awhile before it all clicks together I think :)
Tantrums - joy! We rarely have any public ones (could be because we don't often go out, and when we do, he's just had a sleep and happy!). But we get a few at home. I ignore it usually...though thats pretty difficult when he thrashes around the house banging into floors and walls and looking as though he's trying his best to crush his own skull.
If the ignore it and walk away approach doesn't work, I sometimes plonk him in his bed and walk away. I leave the door open, and generally he sorts himself out in good time and will wander out again happy as larry.
He's really been great though lately. I'm full of "happy" today, he's been such a joy lately and so loving and sweet. He takes my face in both his hands and plants kisses on me....its almost romantic Valentine he's such a sweetie sometimes.
I'm quite enjoying this age....able to communicate so much better and really enjoy each other as people, and not just mummy/baby IYKWIM.
He is continuing on the fussy eating thing. At least he can ask for what he wants now. Which explains why he is currently eating weetbix for dinner!!

Havent been in here is ages! As for the haircut thing, my DS has red curly and extremely fast growing hair. He had his first hair cut at 7 months old. The curls had gotten long and he was pulling his hair that tight that he hurt himself. So its been at least one haircut a month since then. Looks short for a week then its curly and unruley again LOL. I cut it myself. Because its so thick and curly I dont have to be too precise - I couldnt do it if it was fine silky straight hair. Seth just sits in his highchair, munching on whatever I give him and snip away LOL.
No progress for us on the toilet training - ggrrrrrr. And tantrum taiming? oh he throws whoppers! The MIL said he takes after his father LOL. Which I remind DP ALL the time LOL. I try to ignore him, but he works himself up so much that he vomits everywhere - so I havent got much choice but to try calm him down.
Cant believe his party is less than a month away. Party stuff has been bought etc, just need to organise food closer to the day. Praying for good weather :)
Cheers

Toilet training isnt happening here yet, partly due to a lazy pg mummy :o
I dont want to have to run everytime he needs to go when im trying to feed the new bubs cause we all know thats what he will do lmao ! I plan to wait till next spring to start him but then im hoping he decides he is ready around then anyways !
He has a potty but hates it so we dont bother as i dont want to stress him out. He has just started getting the idea of when he has done a poo but never knows beforehand & has no clue about wee'ing. He still stands in the bath wee'ing & i have to tell him lol cause he is so oblivious !
So i figure he is only just getting there with all of that yet is nowhere near ready on the rest of the checklist so why stress ourselves out with it all !
Toddler taming ....
Sorry that makes me laugh especially when i have no control over Boof full stop !
He is a very strong willed child .... Wonder where he gets it from :o
He is honestly a great child but my goodness when he wants things done a certain way or wants to have his own way thats when the trouble begins.
He is truly skilled at the tantrum throwing whether at home or in public but i just ignore him & its over quicker. I often let him know that " sorry no you arent getting your way " or that he doesnt need to react that way etc then say im here when he has finished. So he often comes over for a sook afterwards lol.
It was his 2nd birthday today & it was pretty boring really cause mummy is trying to cope with being sick & being alone all day due to daddy starting a new job. Poor bugger but at least we will see family on the weekend which will be great !

Jacqui - Oh yes the memory like an elephant isnt it great  He cried for 30mins yesterday after he threw a tanty which ended with him throwing a block & two pooh & tigger hard figurines at my face ! He saw exactly where daddy put them out of his reach & the following morning he was awake & asking for them then showing me where they were !
I honestly have no ideas left as to what to do with him !
Ive tried the counting business which he thinks is a game & joins in
Im considering a padded white room for myself as i think this is the only way to discipline him by taking me away lol.
Boof had a lovely birthday refused to eat of course but hey thats standard for a few days a week especially when there is an audience !
Ive forgotten what hugs are ..... :(
Allyoo- glad to hear that your son had a good birthday.happybirthday
Kel- I hope your son has a good birthday coming up.
Decided to stop the toliet training at the moment has sat on the potty but hasn't yet done anything on it yet.
This week we moved DD to a bed. She likes her bed and often says 'new bed' patting it.:) Twice tonight she got out of bed looked confused and just told her she was to stay in bed and helped her back to bed. Heard a thump just before and found her sitting on the floor but otherwise she was fine and has been good ever since.
She is booked in for a little free dental check up next up. Will let you all know how it goes.
Mostly she has a tantrum sometimes when I'm trying to get her pj's on. She really does struggle at time quite a wrestling match and gets very annoyed.
Otherwise she is a good girl majority of the time.
I know all kids are different but I'm curious...How much do other jan -march 05 toddlers weigh? :detective:
I weighed DD on my scales the other day and was suprised to see she is 17kgs!!
She certainly doesn't look it,except for her chubba bubba thighs, most of the time we have trouble getting her to eat properly.
I think I'll weigh her on some better scales at the shops just to double check.

14-03-2007, 17:33
i have no idea what he weighs...i'd guess between 15-17 ks. he's heavy, that's for sure. it's a funny thing but the vietnamese locals with kids can always tell me how much their child weighs. they must do weigh-ins on a regular basis.
ally - we should come up with a surefire method for tackling tantrums and then write a how-to book and make millions. we could be the 'tantrum thrower whisperers'.

A dentist who just does kids teeth as it's a free service for kids under 5 and also for Primary school aged kids. The information I was given was from my local Maternal Health centre.

Hi everyone:wave:
I hope everyone is well.
Lately my DD has been falling out of her bed.:( It has happened a few times now. She doesn't get upset everytime sometimes just find her standing or sitting next to her bed. Thinking of either moving a bed against a wall or either getting a bed rail.
Just wondering if others have had there child fall out of bed and what has helped them to stop falling out.
Her dentist appointment went well.
She sat on my lap while her teeth were looked at didn't get upset at all she held on to a tooth brush and brushed her teeth a bit and was happy to just sit and stare at the light.
They didn't spend long looking at her teeth and said she had lovely white teeth.
She got a new tooth brush which she tired giving back to them. They laughed and said no you can keep the tooth brush and she was given a little pig sticker that says 'Hooray for no decay' for a few days she then carried her sticker around the house.
Taking a quick 5 mins out to update on DD. We weighed her the other day, she is 14kg, I think that's pretty normal.
She is so funny these days, getting way to old in the head, very very manipulative. She will do something bad, and before we get a chance to tell her off, she comes up and gives us a big hug and tells us she loves us.
Another things is the damned 'tweats'. DH gave her a tweat after she ate her dinner one day. Now she wants one after each mouthful of food!! 'Tweat mummy tweat, pweeease, tweat. Yep, Otay, Otay mummy, tweat, yep'.....takes her self to the kitchen and starts climbing on a chair to get the 'tweats'. It's so hard not to give in to her when she is being so funny.
Dont get me wrong, she is a terror at the moment. Constant whinging and moaning and asking for things. I know its all normal but man its hard work. You dont get a break from it! She is even trying to drop her one and only nap!:(
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrraaaaaa
Sorry, needed that.
She was fully potty trained for a week, then she got diaorhea (back teeth coming through) and we had to go back to nappies as she couldnt hold it in poor thing. I know the teething is linked to her being so cranky, it's just not letting up at all. We get 'nice anna' for about half an hour a day, the rest is screaming and whinging anna. She has also just started to hit me. I tell her not to and she will go in time out if she does it again, so instead, she pats me hard, with a sly little smile on her face. I say 'stop, no hitting'. She shouts' IM NOT HITTING!!PAT MUMMY PAT!!! with a naughty cheeky 'haha what you gonna do now' look on her face.
Hmm what else? Oh, shes in Grandmas single bed at the moment(since we moved) and touch wood, she hasnt fallen out yet. We put lots of pillows on the floor just in case.
Food wise she is awful. Living on fruit, toast and spaghetti. Suppose it could be worse.
Oh and we gave her 1 easter egg which she devoured in literally 5 mins, and it made her diaorhea soo much worse. Clever mummy.not.
What about your kiddies?? How have they been this week???

hi everyone - how's the toddler taming coming along??
LJane - good news about the dentist.
Natasha - i can relate. spencer's bad moods come and go. there are days when he's great fun and days when he's an absolute terror. we recently went back to melbourne for a quick visit and for the last two days he was awful. i don't advocate smacking and don't like it but i confess to smacking on the last day :( he just went too far. i'll have to look into alternatives to smacking though.
and the whinging?? the whinging does my head in.
ally - how are you feeling?
Dont feel bad about the smack RC, Im sure we have all been there, I certainly have. Doesn't help the situation one bit but sometimes I just crack you know.
I don't think anyone gets through and survives the terrible 1,2s without smacking /reaching breaking point at least once .:hugs: (good on you to those who do, but I couldn't name one).

thanks, natasha...i needed that....:)
Yeah I have too given my DD the odd smack usually as a last resort often I don't need to just the mention of 'Do you want a smack?' She says 'no no good girl'.:)
LOL lately if I say Nah she goes around saying Nah which is quite funny. DH then says to her say no. Then she says no and he says that's better.
DD can get quite annoying at times can't always get her to have an afternoon nap. Some days she does sometimes you can't get her to have one.
Whenever I'm on the phone she likes to sit on my lap and only leaves me alone once she says hello and bye. Which is cute when she talks on the phone.
Yeah we need to go easy on the chocolate too the weird thing is DD got more chocolate than DH and I did. I think we'll need to give her a hand.:)
She hasn't been falling out of bed lately which is good. So hopefully that has stopped completly.
Sometimes she is rough and hurts me but the good thing is she has started to say 'sorry Mum' which is really nice and stops doing it.
Iv just measured DD. She is 96 and a half cm tall!! 14kilos and 96 cm!!
Ally and you thought Boof was bad at 95cm! And he's a boy! He's allowed to be big and boofy!!:p
My poor lil girl is gonna be a lanky bean pole!!

I keep forgetting to update in here !!!!!!!
LMAO Nash im glad she has a month on him :p
They can be skinny bean poles together !!!!
Boof is doing well driving me absolutely insane some days & then being a little angel for the next few !!!! He lulls me into a false sense of security !!!!
We have been using techniques from Triple P Parenting & it actually seems to work. It isnt always perfect of course but it really is helping thank God because i was seriously ready to choke him a few months back !
Did get the guilts up the other day though because after being told to leave my full glass of drink alone Boof still had to pick it up. Results were that drink got spilt all down the coffee table in the corner of our two lounges. Now this isnt easy to try to clean up having a belly especially when you cant move the lounges !!! So i was screaming :o When i finally finished & looked around to find Boof he had taken himself over to the bottom of the stairs. This is where i put him as a time out. I felt terrible :(
He still isnt keen about the idea of mummy having a baby lol. He gets cranky if its mentioned ! He loves babies mind you but the idea of one taking his attention away seems to hit a sore point !
Jacqui - Im hearing you on the whinging thats the thing that grates on my nerves the most especially at the end of the day when they dont stop :banghead: I also agree with Nash sometimes we all break. Heck ive smacked Boof too many times over the last few months when ive reached breaking point, its horrible !
Ok this is way too long so i will stop now heh but hope everyones kidlets are well !
Lately I have been finding that my DD won't play by herself much like she used to.
Is this happening to anyone else here too?
She used to be good at playing on her own for awhile but at the moment she constantly follows me everywhere except for the times when DH keeps her busy. She has plently of toys to play with she doesn't have any reason to be bored.
We go out often and play in the backyard at these particular times she is fine. But tends be annoying at home and wingers alot. :(
So she must be feeling fine as she is fine those times just not when it's just the 3 of us. As she behaves herself when vistors come over too.
I'm hoping this is a faze that will pass quickly.

Oh yes this sounds like DD completly. She's an angel when we have people over, but when its just the 3 of us, she follows us around constantly, wanting us to entertain her. I could play with her for hours and it wouldnt be enough. She whinges all the time if we dont play with her constantly. She shouts and throws tantrums if we dont do what she wants when she wants.
Im hoping its a phase.:fingerscrossed:
Must be normal then since it's happening to you too Natasha should be just a phase.
You know I"m thinking it could be 2 year old molars. She is putting her fingers in her mouth often she doesn't have a dummy any more and tonight she kept on getting up she wasn't even asleep at 10pm tonight. She goes to bed between 8pm-8.30pm at the latest normally it's 8pm. She was up and down all evening not crying just kept getting up which she doesn't normally do.
I tried to check her mouth before but she wouldn't sit still long enough for me to see if she does have any teeth coming through or not.
For something different today as it was a nice day we did some drawing with chalk on the concrete near our back door. She thought this was great she was good the whole time and it took a bit of convincing to get her inside for lunch. LOL I think she would have chosen to do it all day if that were possible.
We're getting a 2yr molar  It ain't fun! Andrew was up and down last night in a way he hasn't been since he was teeny tiny. I'm exhausted this morning.
First thing on todays list - go and buy some panadol! Its so not fun to realise at midnight that you haven't got any!
Other than the teething issue, everything else is not too bad. Apart from the tanties, I'm loving this age. We can talk! He is stringing words together in ways that surprise me every day - I seem to be always saying "where did you learn to do that?"! Clever little thing.
We are going through the food refusal thing too. Seems to be living on air, milk and vegemite sandwiches at the moment!
Im over trying to discipline DD. What do you do when you get down to their level to explian whey they are being sent to the naughty chair, and they cant hear a word your'e saying because they are screaming so loudly in your face??!!!
Im clueless!
If she doesnt get what she wants.....how am I supposed to explain to her the reason she cant have it if all she is doing is screaming loudly enough that everyone in Japan can hear her?!!!
When she's in her room for timeout...how am I supposed to go in after 2 mins and say' right you are in here for blah blah blah, say sorry to mummy and you can come out.......if I cant even hear myself think because she is blue in the face screaming??
Do i leave her in there to scream it out?? iv tried that. She gets so worked up she could be in there for hours, tll her voice goes all scratchy and croaky and shes not physicaly able to calm herself down!!
What then???
Do I go in and calm her down? DH says that is rewarding her for screaming, that she gets cuddles off mummy.
I dont know what to do anymore!!!
I find myself giving in to her constantly, just so i dont have to face the tantrums!!
She is in her room right now...screaming 'OH FICKIN HELL OH FICKEN HELL" over and over again! For no reason!! It's just nap time!!
She has said it about 4 million times already today.
What do I do about that???!!!!
Im sooo over this!
I cant get a break ever. We have been here 5 weeks and we cant find any childcare over here yet. Big waiting lists. She is getting so spoilt because she's around us 24/7.
At least she used to have 2 days in daycare in Sydney!
Sorry Natasha...it must be rough! I can only imagine....
Andrew doesn't get "quite" that worked up, but he does put on a good show from time to time. If he doesn't respond to calming, I put him in his room, leave the door open and walk away, saying something like "I'll be in the lounge room when you'r ready to be nice".
Sometimes they need to sort themselves out. Especially if its a tanty of the "I want what I want and you're a big fat meanie for not letting me have it" proportion!
I know its hard, but you've got to decide on your method of discipline and stick with it. Every time you cave, you're teaching her that chucking a wobbly WILL work and she WILL get what she wants. Its very Dr Phil, but its simple and true.
This mothering business is hard...but its worth it..just remember that! :hugs:

man, the tantrums are unbelievable. natasha - i don't know what i'm doing either. i've just witnessed a tanty of biblical proportions because i wouldn't let spencer hack mindlessly into a mango. if i try to talk to him mid-tanty, he just gets louder so i generally walk away until he has to come looking for me. it's unreal.
well, i've taken the plunge and started potty training. all is going okay. he's good at using the potty when he is half naked but when i put undies on him, he forgets.
I just don't know what Im doing anymore.
We decided we would carry on using the time out technique. Anytime Anna is doing something naughty, i try to distract her, then if she carries on hitting/smacking/being naughty ect....i will warn her that if she doesnt stop she will go in her room.
As soon as as say that she will start screaming so loudly I havent got a chance to warn her again like you should.
I try but she just screams and whinges louder!!
I end up picking her up and putting her in her room and try to explain why she is in there.....but she cant hear a word because she is screaming so loudly!!
I know Im repeating myself.....but i just dont know what to do!!!
I just say 'well you can come out when you have calmed down.(not that she hears) .Then i walk away.Which makes the screaming 10 times louder.
I go in every 2 minutes and say 'say sorry to mummy for being naughty and you can come out'.......
She completley doesnt hear me, ignores me, doesnt even look me in the eye, just carries on screaming......
So i say 'you can come out when you say sorry'......and leave......which kicks off the sceaming all over again even worse!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it right to keep going in or should I just leave her to cry it out???
What do you guys do???
Iv seriously had enough.
Last night was the worst night ever. She was up from 11pm until 6am!!! Im shattered but now that she's gone down for a nap I cant sleep!!
She wanted to watch HI5 in her room at 2am! I was so tired I just let her!!:o
She being realy picky with her food at the moment. Eating such small amounts it's a wonder how she is functioning.
Oh why are my posts always negative in this thread?
I guess I just need some advice.
I realised yesterday that she bullies me.:o
Im scared to say no to a 2 year old!!!
I never thought I would be this clueless when it came to my own daughter.
It's okay, you can ignore my moaning and carry on.:D
She was actualy okay today!!

sorry, natasha, i haven't been to this thread for a while. when spencer does the same thing as anna - the screaming and carry on - i walk away. the longer i stand there, the longer he puts on the performance. i try to talk to him but i've come to realise that at this age, too much talking is pointless.
don't worry, i haven't got a clue either.

Sorry i havent kept up with this thread in awhile !
Yep i agree with Jacqui, Nash. Anna is wanting you attention & your giving it to her by talking to her iykwim. I dont mean that in a bad way its just that she is learning the louder she screams she will get more attention if that makes sense.
When Boof starts i walk away saying " fine you scream let me know when you want a cuddle ". They hear you dont you worry !
Ive also been really trying to teach him how to tell me whats wrong so he doesnt get as frustrated. So he now comes to me & says "fix" when he cant get something to work or the likes. Otherwise when he just wants me he comes & takes my hand saying " mummy hand ". To which we then go & play or the likes.
The main thing is to praise them once they have stopped screaming & lather on the attention then so they understand that the "bad" behaviour wont get attention.
Its hard really really hard & over the last few weeks ive been pushed to my limits. Have smacked him a few times due to it :( But the main thing is we are trying & slowly things are getting better.

how's everyone doing? our big news is that we bought a big boy's bed for spencer and it was delivered this week. we had it made locally and it's enormous. spencer looks like a little ant when he's asleep in it. he's taken to it far quicker than i expected.
we're also persisting with the toilet training. it's not going too badly. he's good when he's running around with no pants on but has to be reminded when he's wearing undies.
Life is pretty cruisy here. Andrew is a real little boy lately, he is talking SO MUCH...honestly, he could talk underwater that child. Loves the sound of his own voice (hmm reminds me somewhat of his father!)
Not bothering much with toilet training...tis a wee bit chilly at the moment. Every so often I pop him in undies for the afternoon and we're yet to have accidents. More good luck than good management though I think!
Everything else is pretty good. He's in a good place, understands, and will listen to reason (most of the time).
No complaints :)

how are all the jan-mar mummies?
hey, allyoo, not long now. how are you feeling?
well, after a good start at the potty training caper, it's all gone downhill. we went away for a holiday and the potty training came to a grinding stop. now that we've moved back to melb, i'm going to start up again. anyone had any luck?
anyone else getting the loud 'NO!' response to anything and everything?
We hear a lot of the "n" word here too :) Not too nastily (yet), but he is a bossy so-and-so!
The toilet training thing is going ok. He's confident with the potty during the day, as long as he has no undies on. Its about 50/50 with undies on - sometimes he forgets to take them off. But I think he'll be ok with that soon enough.
The big thing for us is the toilet - he really doesn't like sitting on it at all. We bought a step and seat combo on the weekend, he's sat on it a few times, but not really 'keen' yet. I'm trying not to be impatient - it really is good enough that he is using the potty for now.
Andrew overheard someone the other day tell their child to 'come back here, NOW' and now this is his favourite expression. We were grocery shopping on the weekend, and he was in the trolley being pushed by DH. I wandered off to have a look at something and at the top of his lungs 'Mummy, come back here NOW!!!'!! Got a few funny looks! He's so funny :D

Hi Girls! Hope it's OK for me to pop in & say hello! My DD was born 25th March-05, and i now have a DS who is 3months. I will have to have a read back to see how everyone is going, but i thought i'd ask if anyone else is having behaviour issues with their lovely 2yo?? DD is pretty good most of the time, esp as i am spending more time with DS now. She is deliberately disobedient (ie i'll ask her to sit down on the lounge & she'll sit for a second then slowly stand again while starring at me the whole time :banghead: ). I have had days where we have gone to parks/play centres to give her more activity/play time. Tried to keep DS awake for longer periods when she is asleep, so he'll sleep & she can have one-on one time while he is sleeping, but she is still a monster! I don't like to smack her, so she has the naughty corner & is also sent to her room, but everytime she is in trouble she also wets her pants.
Any tips?? Anyone else having similar probs?

Hello girls just wanted to say hi! I don't think I've posted in here before even though DS2 is a March 05 bub, well not so much of a bub anymore!
Toilet training is going very well. He only wears a nappy if we go out or at night time. He has his potty in his room for his day time sleep and uses it before he has his sleep.
He's also Mr Bossy and tells his big brother to 'Go to your room,' if he gets in trouble. He had stopped talking for awhile, but he's improving in leaps and bounds now!

hi, sarie  . we jan-mar 2005 mums are a bunch of slackers! haven't done much writing. i've started up the toilet training again. on the weekend, i took spencer to target and he picked out his own undies - spiderman ones, naturally
then mon and tues he was really good. used the potty or the toilet. wed morn however we had 3 accidents...3 within an hour! so we are going up and down at the moment.
other than that, life with a toddler has been fine.

Hi!
We actually had our first night without a nappy last night and he did really well. He made it through the whole night without wetting the bed, then he woke up and he seemed to forget he didn't have a nappy on and wet his pants. But he did manage to stop himself and use the potty.
It took us a long time for him to actually get the idea of the potty, he's had many accidents!
We're still doing the potty thing too. Andrew is A-OK....as long as he has no nappy/undies on. SO I tend to let him run bare-bum during the day.
One of these days (when i have the patience) I will revisit the undies thing....he has a big stash of wiggles undies and coloured ones that he loves. He just has a hard time remembering to take them off to go to the potty.
Thankfully he is already a dry sleeper. I put a nappy on him anyway in case of accidents, but 9 times out of 10 he is dry after a sleep anyway. One less thing to worry about!
Landen goes here. Landen is my stepson. He was born 23/3/05. He's a very sweet little boy and loves dora, elmo, and mickey mouse!
TT is going well here! Andrew has gotten over the fear of the toilet and is now totally toilet trained at home (yay!). He loves his undies and can get them on and off, but still prefers to run around bare bum, which is ok considering the weather is warming up.
Next step will be getting him to use the toilet anywhere else but home - will be interesting!
