I recently enrolled my dd into a new daycare where she i now in the 3-5 room......and geesssss......has her attitude changed since she has been there.

And its only been a week or so. Its hard to explain all the little things she does now but some of them are........

Doesnt want to know me at all when we are out (if nanna is with us) will only hold nanna's hand and wont let me even touch her.

Tells me to go away at times

"i can do it mummy'

"i dont want your help mummy"

and generally TOTALLY IGNORING me half the time or when i try to hold her hand i get "get off me mummy".

She's become very abrupt and assertive.

I know this is probably pretty normal as she is really learning her independance at this age..................but........i dont feel as needed and a little rejected actually.:(

I wondering if anyone else if getting this from their 3/4yr old????????

Im really not sure how to take it.....spose i should prepare myself as we are on the road heading towards school now. My baby is growing up to fast! :crying:

Yes its the same with mine but I feel a great sense of pride knowing she is capable of doing it herself but yes it can be sad!!!

She is in daycare once a week and when we're with my mum from time to time she rather my mum do it for her like open the door (its childlocked!! :D) won't let me do it!! or even when making her lunch at home she rather do it herself yes the messy way ugh! :o

My mum says I was like that at my DD's age so it doesn't really come to a surprise to anyone that knows me.. they always say oh gee who does she remind u of?!?! YEAH YEAH whatever! :D

u can do other things with your DD that will make u feel good as a mum like being invloved in doing things like colouring or painting and u wouldn't feel so bad... my DD is at the stage when she would suddenly get out of her chair and hug me and her daddy during tea time and say she loves us that is SOOOOO cute and beautiful!!!

Thanks for your reply Pinkbug.

I guess im just finding it a little challenging........but....thinking about it she does come up to me out of the blue and say "i love you mummy" which is lovely.

Maybe i just need to let go a little and start letting her do things for herself........ she is a very headstrong little thing (much like i was too  ).

Its just me and her, so I think I find it a little hard that she is starting to drift into her independance and find herself - not so dependant on me anymore.

I'll have to make more of a consious effort to do things with her like colouring in, etc. We do alot together but its just the little things that can hit you right in the heart, that they dont realise hurt cause they are so little, but it does sometimes.

She does whinge alot to get my attention, which drives me mad though . Alot of the time I never feel like im doing enough or giving enough, IYKWIM, even though everything i do and everything i have is for her - luv her to bits

Its all a balance..........

One of the reasons I stopped sending my son to daycare 1 day a week was because of the change in him once he started in the big room, he had just turned 3 and there were boys in there who were 5 and a half! The last thing he needs at this age is peer pressure or getting bullied, he will sadly have to deal with enough of that later on as it it.
