Hi!

To all those who have created their nursery, are in the middle of it, or are thinking about it . . . .

Where did you get your ideas from?

I have a fair idea of what theme i'd like (teddy bears!) but I would like to find out if there are any websites or magazines that have great pics of nurseries.

Please help!

I know i've got plenty of time, but i'm thinking of starting my shopping this Saturday!

Hi ya,

because we are using all Boori cot set (changing table, toybox, cot etc) so we just sort of copying what they have in their website

Thomas's nursery is the Matilda style, colour: Jarrah

The link is: Boori Baby Furniture (http://www.boori.com.au/main.shtml)

We knew what sex our bub was and what we were going to call him (which was Peter) so we went with Peter Rabbit theme.
He has a beautiful green room, with Peter rabbit characters around etc. Thats how we decided our theme! :) I absolutely love it!

Wow Boori have gorgeous furniture! I find that with most pics of nurseries, they use floorboards, but we have carpet. Wonder if that will make a difference.

Natalie, that is gorgeous - I will find out the sex tomorrow (hopefully!) maybe that will help a little.

Our house is fully carpeted, Trix. Including Thomas's room, and his nursery I must say, looks splendid! :D

I bought all white furniture as I thought it looked modern and pristeen looking.
I also used stars alot but didnt really have a theme. I got the manchester first (Bubbablue, star) and then developed my concept from there.
I found a really great wallpaper/decorating shop locally and they were Fabulous! full of great ideas. I used some of that border wallpaper to cover the bottom draw of DS tall boy and then painted tiny little stars on the other draws, once finished it looked great :D

One bit of advice choose carefully coz 15 months on I am so so sick of seeing stars LOL and I kind of wish I'd gone for clear laquard(sp) wooden furniture instead of white for my baby boys nursery. Now I have to wait till next year to change his furniture as he'll be getting a BIG bed and I have decided to go for a nice clear wood look, more boyish :) . Ikea also has some wonderful ideas and some great furniture that is so reasonably priced compared to all the baby shops.

Happy decorating :)

I've done a mixture of T'smum and Natalie - dark wood and Peter Rabbit theme on the walls. I have gone a bit all over the place though - I have a Classic Pooh mobile, Mr Men toys, Classic Pooh and Bertini Pairs of Bears cot sets..... I've pretty much bought everything I liked!

DD has Boori furniture too.I love the look, and it's really well made, good quality furniture which will last and last.
I did a teddy bear theme for DD,I went to Bunnings hardware and got rolls of teddy bear wall borders, stuck that along 2 walls (the other 2 walls are a huge window and a built in wardrobe) and then cut out the individual teddy bears off the roll and spaced them on the wall above the border,It looks great!

I brought all ikea nursery furniture in a really nice stain and we painted the room blue and green so it kind of looks like a forest. We've been meaning to paint a muril (sp?) on the wall for ages, some trees etc. But haven't had the time. We do have some clouds though. We also painted the ceiling blue, it's a great effect.
We got our ideas from my DH (arty type) and looked on the internet a lot.

Hi Trix,

I have done lots of internet searches and in the baby/mothering magazines they often have lots of great ideas and pictures.

For our little bubbas room (a little boy due in January) we have gone for a blue and red theme with lots of cars and trucks and fire engines!

The furniture we purchased for the nursery is all Boori (it seems very popular) and as the other girls have said it is great quality and looks gorgeous.

The manchester I bought from Bed Bath & table and is by Morgan and Finch if you want to have a look (they also do some cute girl designs to)

Good Luck! It is so much fun shopping and putting the room together for your new little person. Enjoy :)

Take care

Beck

hi trix,
we are having a girl
so we went for white furniture ( i liked it because everything looks clean)
and we have doon a shabby chic/ french provenical (sp?) theme...

Scotts dad made a beautiful change table in antique white with drawers and a cupbaord underneath and have put blushed pink crystal handles
we also found an antique cupboard and sanded it and also painted it antique white... we have also put in a wing chair in the corner for feeding a sitting...
the room has also got bubba blue dragon fly manchester in pink...
the room looks so divine i just want to live in there!!!!
everyone who comes over says it looks stunning...
all i need now is for the bubba to arrive! :D

How exciting!
I painted last Friday! Lime green walls! and i'm in the process of making pink leopard print curtains!
The rest of the furniture is black or white. Yes i know not your average baby room but funky all the same!

When did you all set up your nursery?

Wow sounds like a lot of gorgeous nurseries out there. I found out I'm having a girl, but that hasn't changed my mind about the teddy bear theme - i still want it to have a unisex look with a splash of girliness perhaps. Does that make sense?

Kat, i'd also like to know when everyone got their nurseries ready, i'm thinking just after new years - that will make me around 30 weeks. Hope that's not leaving it too late. My hubby will be doing all the hard stuff!! hehe.

maybe that is a little bit too soon but as ive said in other posts im a little bit

I cant see why you couldnt wait until you were 30weeks
although once you hit 30weeks you do get tired just trying to do anything!

We did our Nursery in Humphries Corner Theme. It's extremely cute but extremely difficult to find. Ds (the lovely child :o ) pulled the wall border off & now I'm trying to replace it for next bub (Edd 19 Dec) But I cannot find anywhere I can get it from!!! It is gorgeous though!

P.s If anyone knows somewhere I can get it from please PM me! :)

My ds#1 had a bananas in pj theme. I bought some BIPJ's curtin fabic and mad some curtins i also bought stick ons of the bananas and teddys and stuck them over the wall around the whole bedroom and on the door.

With ds#2 we painted the bedroom bright yellow bought sun and moon border print to go around the ceiling and bought lamp shade with castle and stars on it in blue to go on the ceiling.

Both worked out cheap but looked beautiful

Blue

That's our theme ;)

And only pastel shades as bright colours make it hard for bubs to sleep!

We do have 'baby snoopy' sheet sets, blankets, toys, bibs, dummy etc, and I wouldn't mind getting a baby snoopy wall border thingy

We started looking a few weeks ago and last tuesday spent nearly two hours in our local paint store looking through all the brochures etc and picking colours.we picked a wallpaper border of a teddy on a train and to match the border a grass green under it and sky blue above, i cant wait to start doing it up.But i'd definately suggest the paint store, they had books dedicated to nursey's with entire theme's,all colours included and some even had matching curtains available!!
