Baptism

Hi Girls,

Im Organising Max's Baptism at the moment for Dec and im just wanting to know did you or did you not read out poems etc etc at your baptism? Was there enough time etc?

I know we say things from the bible etc but what else happened besides the induction into the faith with holy water etc?

How many godparents did you also have as well??

Im looking at going for 6-8 but dunno if its too much.

We are trying to organize Jasmines baptism for December too.We thought we would have it on Christmas day that way all of the family will be here.Hubbys family live about 7hrs away so don't get down much.

We are having just 2 godmothers but I think it is up to you how many you have.

Jasmines birthday is just 6 days after Max's. :)

I think it depends on whether you are having your own ceremony or one with other families as well. We had 2 Godmothers and 1 Godfather which was a good size for us. We met with the other family that were going to be part of the ceremony that day and decided between us who would like to have readings and who would like to do each part. It worked really well.

You may wish to have a private ceremony as then the size of the group and content will not be any issue.

We had three god parents for each of our kiddies & i think you can have as many as you like. & we didnt say any poems either but the best thing for you to do would be to talk to the priest.

You got me thinking when i read your post and so i rang the Father @ the church and he said to me oh i thought we were having a private ceremony..i didnt actually know that you could have private and shared, so at least now i know im having a private ceremony and as you said the content isnt an issue..phew..

He also asked how many god parents and i said 8 and he started to choke on his coffee and laughed and said it will defiantly need to be a private ceremony..lol....

So thanks heaps girls for your advice..
