I LOVE the name Zane!!! I dont know why people wouldnt like it!!
I also quite like Zander too,but it depends on the person you are asking I guess, Zane is young and funky. I say go for it!!
Im having the same issue with the name Taliyah (pronounced T'leah) , Ive had heps of negatives and Im still trying to figure out a spelling im 100% happy with but I cant seem to budge from the name and I know If I have the little girl Im hoping for Ill regret not using the name.
Good luck and go with your heart:)
I think it is a really cool name for a boy and will suit a man too. Go for it, I don't know why anyone would hate it as is not a weird or strange name.

If you have thought about how your little one will "carry" that name & your happy with then so be it. Great!
If you wanna call you little boy "Frankestein" go for it! ~~~~~ Don't worry what other ppl think ((((BIG FAT HUGS))))

I am one who doesn't like the name  SORRY!
I think the reason is that it is really trendy, and I prefer traditional names. I just cannot imagine a 40 year old called Zane, or Zander for that matter. It sounds more like a porn star name than say a policeman/accountant/teacher....
Don't mean to offend, but you did ask! :D

I love the name Zane too!!
I love traditional names best, but as far as Zane goes, I think it is actually quite nice.
I don't foresee a problem with my dentist or doctor, or whatever being called Zane.
I am keeping my bubba names secret IRL until the birth is announced, so no-one can give their opinions!
i dont see anything wrong with the name zane.
but maybe its because some people just dont like things too different. or prefer more traditional name.
so dont take offense to it.

Precisely why we decided not to actually disclose names before the bub is born!! ;)
(Even though going by past history the bub won't actually have a name until after he's born anyway!!)
I'm not into many modern names, but I actually quite like Zane!

I like it!
Use it if it's the name for you. If you gave in and chose something 'safe' and boring  , how would you feel reading the births notices in the paper to see that someone else had used your special name? Go for it!
I love different yet simple names and I know that many others do too. Names take time to 'grow' on ppl too- so any initial feelings about the name with family members don't really count (not that they should to begin with).

Personaly i disagree with this.
I think that the times change with every decade and even though you cant imagine the name Zane for a 40 year old.Come 40 years down the track,he would look a bit like a freak with such an old fashioned name as all his friends will be called what is popular this generation.
Am i making sense?
Hope i didnt offened anyone!
I love it too!! I grew up with someone called Zane... I had a crush on him, lol! We used to call him Zany Zane, cause he was a little zany!
I agree, don't tell people irl the name you have chosen... tell them frankenstein popodopolos with a straight face  Then they might shut up!!
I dont like it coz I know someone called Zane and well...hes a freak LOL
But if you like it-use it!!
I didnt tell anyone the name I had picked coz I knew people would judge it.Its your baby-your choice!
thanks everyone for your thoughts

I just wanted to add that when I read Zane... I thought of Billy Zane the actor... who I must say even though its his last name, the name Zane conjurers a bit of a sophisticated debonaire(sp?) suave kind of image to me... as PP's have said dont tell people the names or in our case as we have a bit of a controverisal name for our son we explaing why we chose it which is the reason and have always felt like it totally suits him and when most people see him playing they go oh yeah he is that isnt he?
Natalie
btw caroline is John a traditional name to you?? cos Zane comes from the name John jus from a different culture.
Sorry i dont like it, as i use to go to school with one and he got "Zane the Pain" alllllll the time.....
i also dont like Dwayne/Wayne and all those nasal drawn out kinda names.:o
Sorry just my opinion

it's actually an old name that has been around for many years.I know a man who was 96 when he died and his name was Zane. It's a derivitive of John, which would just about be one of the oldest names around wouldn't it?
