Hi all,
Has anyone been through this? Bub had her 4 month immunisations this morning :crying:
Anyway, tonight bub has a REALLY horrible smelling poo. It could be smelt across the whole room, and it was TERRIBLE:barf:
When I took her nappy off it was green
Could this be because of the immunisations, or is she sick... or what???
Anyone had an experience?
Thanks

Did you giver hany panadol today? When we gave DD panadol it used to always turn her poo green for some reason. It might just be a co-incidence, but if she does any more it might be a good idea to get her checked out just to be sure. But if it was a one-off - it could have been anything - so try not to worry.

Did she have all injections ?
I doubt she did have an oral vax but in the off chance she did this could be the reason.
Or have you started solids ?
Because usually green poo is the sign of higher iron.
Are you breast or formula feeding?
Formula fed babies sometimes get green poo for reasons best known to themselves. It's generally nothing to worry about unless there are other symptoms (such as if the poo is hard or the baby cries when pooing).
For breastfed babies, I would be a little perturbed but if it's just a one-off greeny, then don't worry about it. If it happens again, ask a doctor or CHN.

Green and frothy can be a sign of fore/hind milk imbalance, ie not staying on the boob long enough.
It's the smell factor that confuses me. DS has had a few tastes of solids and still his poo's don't stink. Was the poo the same breastfed consistency? Did she have big farts beforehand?
Generally it used to be that the oral polio vax can bring on a reaction in the poo - but it's injectible these days. Did your DD have any oral vaccines? There is a new one which is oral, the gastro one I think? I am not sure of when they schedule that one though, I"m thinking out loud here. Any oral vaccine will pass through into the faeces. And it can upset their little digestive system and give them yukky poo. Has it happened again? Or has she had a normal poo since?
:hugs: immunisation is a tough decision to make, and a tough thing to go through, and then for this to happen afterwards must be so stressful for you :hugs:
Let us know how she is tomorrow. :hugs:

oh - have YOU eaten anything really different in the past day? I say this because, when I eat sweet chili sauce, P-EW the farts that come from my boys butt are revolting!!!! His poo's still smell breastfed though, maybe a little stronger than usual but not terrible. But the farts!!!! it's funny - but not when it hapens in church :shame:
:p

Thanks for the responses -
- queen... ew at the sweet chilli sauce!
well, i don't think i've eaten anything out of the ordinary.
and she hasn't started any solids yet, and she didn't have an oral vaccine.
otherwise she seems well, so i'm stumped
she hasn't done a poo since - i've been waiting for the next to make sure it's normal.
queen - what you said about the fore/hind milk imbalance was interesting, she is a bit of a snacker - so is probably getting much more fore milk than she should?
but then again, she has always been like this so doesn't really explain the totally awful poo all of a sudden........

if it was frothy as well as green, yeah try encouraging longer feeds.
F@K scuse typos
is she well in herself and normal in every other way? maybe a tooth coming - some kids get funny poo because of the bacteria in theior moutrh during teething. or that coiuld be a wives tale LOL
I WAS JUST ABOUT TO MAKE A POST ABOUT THIS.
Cobey's poo is ROTTEN today! He had his 4 month needles yesterday.
Breastfed, I've eaten nothing unusal... but this poo can peel paint I tells ya! :barf:
He's done 2 already this morning! The first one he was sitting on my lap but the second one I was wondering around his room sniffing before I realised it was coming from his pants!

Seekrit - sorry you have to put up with the horrible poo :barf: but it has set my mind at ease! It must have been the needles!
She has since had a poo and is totally back to normal! (Thank god  )
I had EJs 12mth needles done on tues and I have to say the poos she did yesterday were shockers also
Maybe its something in the current Hep b/hib vax  (which is the only similar injection they and EJ would have had)
