What are the best covers to use? What should I look for? What are the best for money? I dont want to fork out money only for it to be something that wasnt worth it. . plus the income of a single mum isnt super high!!

Any help or suggestions or stories please!!

I have PUL covers and a wool wrap from BabyBeeHinds,
Very Baby fleece covers from Erica's, you can now get from The WeeWuns,
and woollen soakers I sourced from various places, ebay being one of them.
I find they all work well, I tend to use the PUL and fleece during the day- alternating and the wool at night but I do use them in the day as well for Hugh's big sleeps.
The wool soakers are very easy to look after and the fleece and PULs are easy to chuck in the machine and they dry really quickly.
The most expensive being the wool wrap $20 and least expensive being the small fleece for about $12.

If you or someone you know can knit then wool covers would be the cheapest using commerciallly available wools.
I prefer wool as it is most effective.
I think fleece is the cheapest option (apart from PVC) but I have heard it smells and needs more frequent washing.

I have 4 PUL covers from Baby Beehinds (I've heard the Bumis covers are good aswell) that I rotate between nappy changes. They stay dry, and the edges only get wet if the nappy is absolutely soaking wet. They can be chuck in with the nappies to wash, easy peasy:thumbsup:

I also have 2 wool wraps from Baby Beehinds. Nice and snug, and last all night without soaking through. Come in some great colours.

My all time favourite, though, is the good ol' wool soaker:yelclap: . I have 1 from Possum Pouches (absolute luxury) and 1 from Sustainable Hemp Products (good all rounder). I'd love to get some more. Easy to use, rarely need washing - only if dirty, lanolise once every 4-6 wks, warm in winter - cool in summer. Can be made in a mirad of colours - whatever takes your fancy.
I have 2 wool soakers. One is worn at night while the other airs, then I swop them.

I have to disagree with Kazza, though, about price. I'd say soakers can be cheap (around $19 is the cheapest I've seen) but they can range up to $70 if they've got pictures on them. Another place to look is Ozebaby. But they're well worth the money.

Oh, btw, DO NOT, under any circumstances, get PVC. It doesn't breathe which makes the nappy stay wet and can give bub's nappy rash.:devil6:
It's cheap, but definetly not the better option.

Sorry I should have exlained better:) -
the most expensive I have is a wool wrap from BabyBeehinds, it's not the same as a hand knitted wool soaker. But even at $20 it's not a hugely expensive cover.

Ahhhhhh, now I comprehend:D I agree, for $20 it's still a bargain for what it is.

I was taking a pic of Hugh for June Mums so took this to show the difference (since I can't post links to a shop)
wool wrap on left- soaker on right. I hope it shows up ok.

I have a BB wool wrap and they are okay for the price though I do much prefer soakers.
I agree about the PVC -not very pleasant.

Kymmy you're so clever!! Thanks for sharing.
How does the cotton soaker/cover go?

kymmy

The cotton is no good! As it wicks.
They are more like shorts- clothing say over a pocket or AIO or sposie.

Learn to knit!
It can be addictive. I have wool galore here. I need a wool room!
Woolies rock!
