Hi all,
I am a week off the arrival of Bub number two and love the idea of being one those domestic type people - you know the ones - who have a freezer full of meals ready for when they are in hospital and those first few weeks of chaos at home. I am half way there in that I have the freezer.....just nothing in it except for 8 little mini shepherds pies that I made and froze for my 20 month old - the problem is I made them over a month ago and am so proud of them all lined up there beautifully that I refuse to let her have them !! They are just for freezer display purposes I guess.....

Anyway, I am ready to embark on the next chapter (If I dont go into labour early !) and actually get some decent usable non-display meals in there. As I am a total freezer novice, I am wondering if anyone has some tips/ideas on meals that really freeze well.....I would love any handy hints, ideas that you have....what works what doesnt work...should I freeze in meal size portions or just the whole dish at once etc.....

Many thanks......cant wait to get started....sad I know !
Have a great day !

I had planned on having spag bol (meat only), lasagne and a casserole/stew or two in the freezer but DD came 2 weeks early and threw all my plans out the window

We managed to survive tho - luckily DH isn't completely useless in the kitchen :yelclap: and we had lots of sauces in jars in the cupboard so it wasn't too hard for him to dice some chicken or steak, brown it & add jar of stuff to simmer away while he cooked the rice or pasta.

Good luck with getting the freezer filled!

Curries, spag bol, lasgnae, chilli con carne, stews and casseroles always freeze well.

Another option you can do is use a slow cooker and put meals on in the morning and let them cook all day. Just have the meat cut up into meal size portions then all you have to do is chuck them in the slow cooker with jars of sauces. I found this really easy to do. Then come dinner time either myself or hubby just had to cook rice, pasta or a few vegies and presto a harty meal.
