Hey there. I really want to buy my baby a soft toy as a "lovey" for weaning him from my bed and would like something made of natural fibres seeing he has eczema. Has anyone found a good brand/wedsite to recommend.
Thanks
Philippa

My daughter has eczema too. For bed she has an asthma friendly bear, it has a blanket body and a teething bit at the bottom, she loves it.
My mum actually got it for her, I will give her a call and tell you where from

I honestly have no idea.....but maybe try washing regular soft toys with a sensitive skin laundry powder??

Thanks Brooke for going that extra mile and asking your mum.
He immediately gets red when he chews on anything synthetic and I'd washed them all with sensitive washing liquid (sigh, my poor baby) so even though he's got some lovely plush toys, he won't be able to play with them until he's older and hopefully has outgrown this!
Cheers

I havent forgotten about you!
It is actually american made so I am having difficulty finding any aust info on it .My mum got it from a baby specialty shop, and I have her on the case, she is going to go to the shop and find out where ther stock comes from. So again I will get back to you.

The product is called asthma friendly, it could be the same thing nemosmum is talking about!

I think what your mum got you is called a "snoedel" (recommended by a book called "the no-cry sleep solution" I'm reading). About USD$25 so I'm no going to worry about them. DJs are the ones that have the Asthma friendly range - called and checked them and Myers (no clue) and I'm going to check them out. I may just end up ordering from the organic trading company which has something there that looks the trick...I can put it between myself and Parker while we feed etc and get him to transfer some of his lovely but all consuming attachment onto it!!!!! :) Thank you soooooo much for your assistance! Above and call. Really appreciate it....If any mums have another store/brand they could recommend as a backup...in case after all the running around Parker doesn't like what I give him that would be lovely! Cheers

Hi :-) Im having the same problem with the toys. I have just bought DD an organic doll from organic oasis on ebay. They still have a boy and a girl doll left. They are also stocking the following range if you contact them directly (message them via ebay or message me and I will send you their email address)
http://www.maudnlil.com.au/creatures.html
which are also organic (v cute but we really wanted a doll!) DD sucked one of her synthetic dolls while we where shopping yesterday and now looks like she has "pash rash" Please let it be gone by her birthday on wednesday!!!
Good luck finding something!

I'm loving the "pash rash" comment Laura's mummy....I've been looking for a description for PJ's face after he plays with one of his brother's toys....hope you don't mind but I'm stealing it! Got an asthma friendly toy thru ebay. Can't wait to get it and get PJ out of my bed...he's a bed hog!
Cheers

If you are an ebayer, you can search for either Steiner toys or Waldorf toys and you will find dolls, soft animals etc... Also if you google search Steiner or Waldorf you will find heaps of sites that sell 100 % natural wool toys. All Steiner toys are tradionally created from natural fibres such as wool fleece and felt as well as cotton, wood and other natural materials.

Hi Phillipa!
lol- feel free to use "pash rash" !!! It makes me laugh when I say it- so Kath & Kim! (and so high school too!) I hope the new toy solves your bed hog dilema- it is amazing how such a small person can take up so much bed isnt it? DD is worse then DH (and that is saying something!)

I just had a religious experience. Found the PERFECT "lovey" for PJ at Target and it was 50% OFF!!!! Moments like that are golden! Its a little lamb head and soft blanket body and machine washable. He hasn't reacted to it so its a keeper!
