Well....I guess I am one of you! So now I'm in the secret club, can someone please tell me the special handshake, or is it just a password? Do I need to stop shaving my legs and armpits?
I think I'm just looking for some reassurance that I'm doing the right thing - DD turns 2 in two weeks time, and she still loves her "mummy milk". I probably feed her about 3 times a day on average.
She absolutely loves it - and will ask for it - and there is no way she would take to weaning happily, but I am starting to feel some pressure from family to wean her.
I only intended to breastfeed for about 6 months originally, but once she arrived and we overcame initial difficulties, I couldn't see a reason to stop - let's face it, there are just so many benefits.
What do you think?
Sorry, not an extended breastfeeder, but just wanted to say good on you guys! If it's working well for both of you why should you stop? I know it's really hard with family, but I would just ignore what they have to say. Continuing to breastfeed your DD can only be a good thing.
Nice to see you.

Why stop if you have a good thing going IMO:thumbsup: I am breastfeeding Ozzy but he isn't 2 until February. But plan on feeding both him and the new little bubba come December:yes: It's easy (I'm lazy) it gives me lot's of time with my little fella and it is something he really enjoys;)

YAY, good for you. Why stop if neither of you want to.
I breastfeed my first daughter until she was 3 years and 2mths old. I am currently breastfeeding my new daughter who is 7 months and intend on feeding her just as long as her sister:fingerscrossed:
I had alot of people telling me to stop, but in the end it was MINE and BUBS choice to continue. (I actually regreted stopping when I did and wish I had kept going until she was 4)
Dont let people talk you into stopping if you and your DD dont want too.
Breastfeeding is a beautiful thing!
Congratulations Nickster!!:yelclap:
IMO Breastfeeding is part of the unique bond between mother and child, so if both the mother and the child are happy to continue, then its nobody's business but your own!! You are doing the right thing, as you know, you can't forcefully breastfeed a child!! And you can't blame Libby, she knows that mummy's milk is the best!!!
My DD is 15mths old today and that is 15mths of breastfeeding for us!! Similar to Libby, my Romilly has on average 3 bf/day, will ask for it and has no intention of self weaning yet!!
I agree with Oscar's mum, why stop if you had a good thing going? You said yourself, after the first 6 mths of bf, you saw no reason to stop - ignore the critics and do what you and Libby feel comfortable with!!

Aww, thanks guys - I know in my heart that continuing is the right thing to do - I like to follow my instinct. And I too am very lazy.
I just don't want to be that woman on "60 Minutes" still feeding 5 year olds.
Sopolicha, I'm chuffed to be your role model - or is that roll model?
And Zenifa, I'm so pleased you're still going strong - I remember you had such trouble at the start like me.
I guess I'll just continue on in my merry way....

Having met you Nickster, I can't really imagine you in a paddock with a 3 yr and 5yr tandem breastfeeding, nor can I see you at the prepschool gates, waiting for meal breaks to give Libby some bitty
You are right Nickster, it was a pretty painful difficult start for me too, but I am so happy that I persevered, especially with thanks to you and other bubhubbers who encouraged me, gave me good advice and details of good LC!!
Keep up the great work

Yay to you and your bub! That is fantastci that you have such a great BF relationship. i can only hope that my bub (who has threatened weaning a few times:crying: ) will stick to it for as long.
Oh, and thanks for the reminder about my leg hair-must make that appointment to get defuzzed. Ther is something about the third child that makes you just not care! But DH keeps looking at my legs with a very strange expression...:p

Zenifa, you made me laugh out loud at your description of me at the prepschool gates - yes, that is so not me..... Pleasure to help you.
Funkychicken, if having 3 children doesn't give you an excuse not to shave your legs, I don't know what does....I figure I'm running out of excuses with just the one....
