View Full Version : Planning an unplanned homebirth
Hi, I was hoping to get some general information/direction here.
My last birth (2nd) was very fast and we only just made it to the hospital in time. My Ob told me that this time I need to get there without delay as my next labour is likely to be fast also.
Is there anything I should know, if this baby decides to come quickly at home? How can I be prepared?
Thanks
Cat.
Sounds like you've got an amazing birthing body that knows what she's doing without medical help. Beautiful! :smiliedance:
Why would you need to go to an ob if your births go so smoothly? You could instead plan to have a homebirth (which you babes appear to want :D) and just use a booking with your ob as a back-up for the highly unlikely event that you might need her/him?
There's heaps of resources online that can help you prepare for a homebirth, let me have a look around and see if I can find a thread here that has some info...here you go, here's some threads right here with great HB info :)

hi catflap..I am planning for the same event, just in case as my first baby came in less than 2.5 hours.
Maybe I should get a blow up swimming pool ;)

There is a site called Purebirth which is mainly about having an unassisted pregnancy and childbirth-
http://www.purebirth-australia.com/
Even though you are planning a hosptial birth this site might give you some good information just in case bubby comes at home and you don't have a midwife.
Glad to hear you have such amazing births!!
