Just a bit of a vent girls. I came home from Mum's house tonight expecting;
1) a nice clean kitchen. THis is how I left it before i went out.
2) A clean floor. DH promised to vacuum and mop whilst the kids and i were out.
3) a locked up house. DH and brother are in bed and the whole house is unlocked for any one to just waltz in!
4) a clean guest toilet. I have asked my brother for the last 5 days to clean it!
5) a shopping list. They know tomorrow is shopping day and if they need anything to write it down. Do they? NO! And then they tell me AFTER i have done the shopping that "i needed razors" or " i needed some body wash".
6) a clean dining table. I also left this in clean condition when i walked out the door.
7) a basket od clean washing. I hung this out this morning and left a note for DH to bring it in. IT's still on the damn line! He goes out for a ciggie every hour! Is he blind? can' t he see the washing? or the basket that i leave out there for him!

Sorry , i am sure a few of you have DH's that do the same things! And as for my brother, if he expects me to be his maid he can pay me for it! And i'll be letting him know that I am not cheap!

Oh and i forgot to mention that we have an ant problem so i don't leave dirty dishes around the kitchen. Especially when i go out and when i go to bed. They left biscuit crumbs on some plates! Not a few crumbs , there were enough to smoosh together and make 2 biscuits. And guess what?! The plates were covered in ANTS!!!
I mean, just invite the ants in for a meal! I am so angry. I am having a meet here tomorrow and i didn't plan on spending my night cleaning up after 2 grown men. I just want my house to look nice and predentale. Is that too much to ask for?

I would honestly, LEAVE IT. Ignore their own whinging and ramblings and..jesus bloody..

my blood would be BOILING. hell, i probably would have woken up my DP to get him to bloody clean!!!

:shame: :shame: :shame:

Honestly hun, LEAVE IT!!!!! Dont do it, no matter even if there are ants. The men have to learn you are not their slave. ARGHH.!

And this is why as the mothers of boys they need to be the ones to set examples because otherwise you end up with men who take the woman in their lives for granted! :shame:
In our house our parents shared all domestic things, as a result my 2 brothers and I also shared chores equally. We didnt have a mummy running around after us we were taught to take responsibility for ourselves.
I would take the plates into their rooms, not do their laundry, tell them 'well next time you will remember to put it on the shopping list hey' when they ask for something AFTER youve done the shopping. They can only get away with what you let them get away with.
Trust me your not alone my DP had a mother who at 31 still runs around after him cleaning making his bed doing his dishes. She dosnt do me any favours but he has got the message that Im not his mother!

Yep, definately leave it.

Their arms and legs are painted on and you aren't the only one that lives in the house.

I left the plates covered in ants next to their lunchboxes ( which i refuse to wash anyway), si they probably got a nice surprise when they went to pack their lunches. I also decided that i would vacuum at 11 o'clock at night, using our noisy Kirby vacuum cleaner. I will also be leaving a nasty note for when they get back from work. I am going to take the kids out shopping and we'll eat out. DH and my brother can fend for them selves.
Actually I think my brother needs to move out. This was meant to be a temporary thing now he is talking about "us" finding a new house in April and "we " will have to pack all our stuff again! I just said to him " what is all this "we" s#*t?".

Yeah men have no idea do they? One time I went to the shop and I said to Grant "can you please put Hayleys p.js on her and clean the highchair, when I got back (about 40 minutes later) she was still in her clothes and the high chair still had food on it and when I asked him why he couldn't do TWO SIMPLE THINGS he says "I tried to put her pyjamas on her but she wouldn't let me" I looked over to where I put her p.js (on the couch) and they hadn't even been touched  I said to him "shes a baby, you're an adult, put your foot down and tell her that its time to get ready for bed" This has happened a few times, I leave simple instructions but I end up doing ot half the time anyway. Also I hate the fact that he complains to other ppl when the house is messy but does he do anything about it? No. Does he see a pile of washing and think to himself "hmm, maybe I should fold it" No, men don't think about that stuff, well not often anyway, occasionally Grant tidies the lounge or whatever but thats not exactly hard, he helps with dinner sometimes and he is usually pretty goodwith Hayley (usually if I ask him to do something 50 times) Vent over.

Good on you hun!
LOL, thats a good point NZMamma made - us mums with boys have to set an example for them. My DH's mum made his bed and everything, he never had to lift a finger... got a nasty surprise when I married him!! lol but 2 years later he's FAIRLY well trained, still a bit grotty. Just leave it til they do it, otherwise if you clean up after them constantly they will get used to it. Good luck girl!!

LOL !! I watched a show the other day and the guy on it said "if a woman realises you're good at something, she'll keep making you do it" so they would INTENTIONALLY be lousy at getting the groceries so the woman would just say "Ill just do it myself!!". Do you think they do it on purpose so they wont have to do it again?? Or are they SERIOUSLY that thick?? LOL

I'm sure this is a male multi-tasking thing. My DH is exactly the same. He would never even consider doing two things at the one time, even talking to a mate and having a drink while bottling his home brew is too much like multi tasking for him. As for washing, isn't that the stuff that :wizard: goes from on the floor dirty to clean and folded in the cupboards?

As for you brother, give him the heave-ho. Sounds like he's expecting you to take over from where your mum left off.

I have a 15 year old who thinks I'm a slave can not clean a thing after himself, but I did get him to start putting his dishes in the dishwasher by serving his next meal off his old dirty dish if he left it hanging around - worked wonders!

Haha you guys are seriously evil.
mumtok&z - Lol I think he will get the hint....as long as he isnt doing something else at the same time because that would require multi-tasking and we all know how they cant manage that
Lil mumma sounds like your DH was subjected to the same shock treatment my DP got lol.
The other day his dirty sweaty work clothes had been left in a pile by the bedroom door. I stood in the door way and said 'J where is the laundry?' he looked at me puzzled as though it was a trick question because of course he knew where the laundry was....then he clicked 'oh next to the bedroom door?'
Nice try buddy!

This is a sign that I bought the other day from a gift shop.

House Rules

If you get it out - put it back.
If you sleep in it - make it.
If you wear it - hang it up.
If you drop it - pick it up.
If you dirty it - wash it.
If you open it - close it.
If you turn it on - turn it off.
If it howls - feed it.
If it cries - Love it.
If you think I'm nagging........
I'm not - It's called sharing!

Now if only I can get my dh and my boys to actually do these things.

i think i need one of those signs too.
my dp was very good, i guess he was just on his best behaviour for longer than i expected.
i was getting his things ready for work so he could get more sleep coz he was doing 12hr shifts and it takes about an hr to get to his work from home. so i was trying to be nice. then a couple months back he decided that he needed to do more things for himself (like ironing his uniform etc)

so ive been trying to let him, but he WONT do it!!! so im left trying to get it all done at the last minute while looking after ds who is generally trying to cling to me.
today i didnt notice the time, and frankly didnt give a sh*t. so right about the time he was meant to be leaving he discovered nothing was ready. and had a go at me. we both got up at the same time this morning, we went out for a bit then we came home so he would have enough time to get ready. but he had a sleep. so instead of it being his fault that HIS stuff wasnt done it was mine apparently.:banghead::mad: because i supposedly had more time. (while he was sleeping i was washing the mountain of dishes and tryin to tidy up)

This morning i cleaned the whole house top to bottom before going to work and after i spent the rest of the day at mum's ( she has just got a new pool:D ). I thought that if i cleaned the house i wouldn't have to worry about it for a few days as tomorrow is shopping and errands day and Friday i am having a chocolate party. The house should stay clean for a few days shouldn't it? Not my house! IT IS A MESS AGAIN! And it isn't from the kids cause they were at mum's all day. IT is from DH and my brother. How can a 29 yr old and a 24 yr old make more mess than a 2.5 yr old and a 16 month old? Shouldn't it be the other way around? I am geting so frustrated with this. I can handle the kids and their toys and mess but i cannot handle grown men not cleaning up after them selves or not even trying to keep the place clean. Do I clean for fun? I am a mother and a wife and a sister not a house maid or slave for god sake. There is no shopping list so they can kiss their toiletries goodbye for the week , i don't care if they have to smell! And what the hell did they have for dinner , cause what ever is left on the plates is an un identified object.
sorry about the long post but sometimes this is the only place i can have a whinge.

angie

my thoughts are with you.

i suggest you leave your clothes around too. play their game. cook ur own food etc. wash your own n just the kids stuffs. have fun with the kids but ignore the big snotty boys. they knew you are around and pick up after them . time to stand up for own rights. look gorgeous wear nice clothes all day everyday. smell good for yourself. the minute you ignore them each time they or you are around each other and you only nice and fun with the kids and around mum/dad
they will see you are not to be messed about.

talk to them only when they talk to you even so, just a short talk . you pretend ignorant too. make yourseld sound stupid enoug for them to feel fed up of anything with themselves. do the reverse physocology thing.
