Oh dear, that's not very noice!
I have a couple of suggestions you could try... one is to buy some "cat off" spray, which you can get from the vets and spray it where she has been going.
They also say that if you feed a cat where it has been to the toilet, it won't return to the same spot.
You could also keep a spray bottle of water handy and try to catch her in the act and spray her each time.
Otherwise, talk to your vet as they might have another suggestion.
Cats are often attracted to the chemicals in some cleaning products, and it makes them do their business wherever they smell it... so what are you cleaning it up with? Bleach and ammonium-based products are the worst I hear... You may need to change brands - baking soda and vinegar can be good if you can deal with the smell of the vinegar. I have also heard that the best thing to use to clean carpet after a cat has gone to the loo there is washing powder!
Spraying with a water bottle is a great suggestion - it may be ebough to break the habit, if you get in quick enough and are consistent.
Good luck, not a nice prob to have to deal with! Like you don't have enough on your plate as a mum!

Speaking of cat poos, when I was about 11 our cat did a poo in my bedroom and so that I didn't get into trouble I went out in the middle of the night and threw it over the neighbours fence. :wizard:
Oh to your problem, good luck it's probably a territory issue.

It can be the cleaning products - something about amonia/bleach in it smells like another cat has been there - we had one that used our daughters bed (ugg) till we discovered that if the litter tray was a bit dirty she wouldn't use it and go elsewhere instead. Maybe attention seeking? More than one cat in a house has it's challenges - we have two

We had a massive problem with our 4 year old male cat when DS was 2 months old, he was weeing and pooing everywhere, plus howling all day and all night, after several trips to the vets, thinking he had a urinary tract infection, it was diagnosed that he had a mental breakdown due to the change in routine and smells, so he's now on antidepressants and we have had no trouble at all. I know it sounds silly, but it works!
Write down the "bad" behaviour that your cat displays, when it happens, how long it's been happening for and go and see your vet, it could just be a behavioural issue that can be easily sorted.

Close the doors to the bedrooms? lol
or try some of the sprays that are available... white pepper sprinkled where you dont want them to go is meant to work too.
One of my female cats used to do that and it was purely because she hated my kids (thanks to years of torment)
Ive got cat litter in the bathroom for the male cat i have now - and hes all fine with that (hes an indoor only act tho) unless the doors are shut to the hallway and he cant get there (whihc is an issue when he thinks its cool to squat on a sofa cushion or something!!).
One of my cats is the same, except it wees in worst spots.
Anyway the vet told me i need one kitty litter tray more than the amount of cats...so i have 2 cats i need to 3 trays.

there is three reasons your cat maybe doing this
1) it is marking her territory
2) where you have placed her litter tray some cats feel insecure about where the tray has been placed
3) she may think the litter isnt clean enough
some cats are really fussy and if its used even once
they refuse to use it
or if you have had a really big change like moving house new pet or new baby or even partner she could be feeling insecure and have her nose out of joint
hope this helps
