For all those who have been on clomid I have a few questions. I'll be starting next cycle, I'm CD9 today and usually have 40+ days per cycle so its a long wait yet but I'm excited to finally be doing something to help get a BFP.

So,what is it like on clomid? Also how long did it take to get your BFP?

I've been waiting 3 months to see a chinese herbalist and have my appointment in Dec has anyone used clomid and herbs at the same time? Should I do both or just one?

Has anyone had twins or more on clomid? I wouldn't mind twins. DH wants to stop at 2 kids but I'd love more

Hi hun!

Did your Dr tell you to start next cycle? If you're hormones are baseline you should be able to start straight away rather than waiting.

I concieved DD with Clomid, second go and am currently in the TWW of the first cycle of Clomid for number 2 :fingerscrossed:

As for side effects I get hot flushes, headaches and thats about it.

There is an increased risk of having twins, I think its like 15%. If you are going to have monitored cycles your FS will do an internal scan and let you know how many follicles will most likely mature. They usually don't continue with a cycle if there are more than 2 mature follies.

As for herbs and Clomid, I asked my FS about that and he said he's not against it and its up to me. He could'nt really say much more because he doesn't know about the herbs they use and what they do, but he did mention that chinese herbs are frequently used with fertility drugs.

I didn't take my herbs this cycle, thought I'll start taking them next cycle, if there is one!

Good luck and you should come and join our "TTC with Clomid" thread!

(sorry i have copied a bit of a reply to another thread that was also relevant here)

Clomid has some side affects which will be listed on the box when you get the tablets. Many women however dont get any of them, others get a few. I personally have had headaches for a few days while taking them on my last 2 rounds.

There is a slightly increased chance of multiple birth but only 8% compared to 1.8% naturally. If you are being monitored then you will know if there is only 1 folicle there and Fertility Specialists are very careful about drug dosages as they dont want to give you too much and produce more than 1 folicle, so they will start you on a low dose and increase that if needed.

I have been on clomid for 3 cycles now, still in my 3rd cycle and have had 2 dosages of Clomid this cycle because the first dose of 50mg didnt work this time so I had to then take 100mg which is yet to work either...
However dont let that get you down, Clomid works for many women, my sister has to beautiful DDs (1 on on Clomid and 1 on FSH injections)

When I first started Clomid I had been seeing an Acupuncturist weekly and having Chinese Herbal Medicine every day. My FS said to be careful of what herbs I was given incase they were counteracting the Clomid. My Acupuncturist knew about the Clomid but advised me to not take the herbs on the days I was taking Clomid. I stopped taking them all together just to be safe. I was only going to him to try and get a cycle back after going off the pill but after discovering I had PCOS I decided to concentrate on the fertility specilist side of things instead of the natural therapy.

Good Luck! :fingerscrossed:

Hi There
I have just started Clomid this cycle. I didnt realise I would get any side effects straight away but I have had headaches, insomnia and mood swings already.
Apart from that it has been ok (so far..).
I was like you, just happy to be doing something to get my BFP.
I will be testing on 7th Dec so :fingerscrossed: the Clomid works for me this time.
Good Luck!!

My first cycle on Clomid was horrible!!!!
My headache the whole time i was taking it, leg aches, couldnt sleep, mood swings etc etc......
But hey i responded well to that cycle, i ended up with one folicle, but didnt end up preg :banghead:

2nd cycle of clomid they uped the dose to 100mg (2 tables a day) not one side effect at all, but the whole time i was on it i was worried that it wasnt working coz i wasnt feeling anything, and boy was i spot on..... nope didnt respond at all.
So the FS started me on FSH injections as well, and after being on them for 3 weeks changing the dose here and there i finally ended up with 4 folciles, but that was too many just to continue on having sex or going through IUI (artificial insemination) so we went down the IVF road instead. and now..... i think im preg... have had 2 x POS tests for the last 2 days and am off for a BT later today!!

Hopefully clomid does the trick for you!
Just keep having lots of water whilst on it, i found it helped a little!!!

:fingerscrossed: for you!!!

So basically in answer to your questions - no i didnt get preg from the clomid

What a great thread

I start clomid in 3 days so I was also interested to know what other people's experiences were.

I am also currently taking herbs from fertile mind & body - I am going to check if I should keep taking them or not.

Lots of baby dust to everyone :wizard:

Thanks for all the replies and :fingerscrossed: clomid works for everyone

Congratulations TJ I'm so happy you've got your BFP

My doctors advice was to take clomid from day 5-9 and BD from days 9-19 so I'll be resdting up for the next few weeks to get energy for a BDing marathon:cool:

Hi there everyone in this thread. Just wanted to let you know that its been great to read over all of your chatting!
Although i'm only 22 i've been wanting to start a family ever since i started in childcare 5 years ago. Unfortunately i've been diagnosed with an underactive thyriod after coming off the pill when i got married in august 07.
After being on thyroxine for a few months, it looks like clomid may be te next step. Its really scary and also dissapointing having a body that doesn;t seem to be working even though starting a family is what i've wanted and dreamd for, for so long..and also being young and fit! Argh!
Its helped me understand a lot looking at what u guys have written.
I wish you all the best and i look forward to reading and sharing more with you. Thanks!:flowerz:

I am a 32 year old mother of six. Conceiving has never been a problem for me. I tied my tubes in 2002 and had them reversed this year, but have not got pregnate. I have benn to the doctor three time and every time they tell me my mide cycle blood work is perfect but they do not see a new folicle growing. I have never had this problem and I am still pretty young to be conceving so I do not understand this. They wanted to do a clomid cycle. They ar telling me I have to take hcg and progestrone and other meds. I was wanting to know if you could just take clomid only. And see if I conceive. I have clomid at home and thought about just taking it on my own. I spent eight thousand dollars for the surgery and can not afford all the ultrasounds it will take to do it wiht the docotor. It will cost 1,200 more dollars a month. My doctor said you take one hudred mil. for five days, day five through day ten. But then you are suppose to take the hcg. I do not have hcg and can not get it with out a persription, and they will not give it to me unless I am going to do it with them. Does any one have any answers for me. I am getting very discuriged and would really like to give my husband a child.
