im studying at the moment, just a 2 day a week cert 2 course... it ends in 2 weeks...

my tutor has said that my assignments and practical work are the best she has ever seen and said that she could get me an apprentiship at top workplace if i wanted it. i only did the course in the first place to help my little sister out (shes 15 and very shy) and thought i would hate it! but im loving it...

the problem is, im not tiny (sz 18) and the area that im loving is a 'tiny girls' profession, i dont want to go into the workplace (which as i said above is a TOP workplace in the field) for an interview and be knocked back for being bigger than most!

we also are ttc #2 and would have to put that on hold for 4 years... and i dont want that bigger gap between babies!

aghhh help please... what do i do!

I say go for it!!

You have nothing to lose, and if you dont get the job purely based on your weight - well, you wouldn't want to work there anyway!!

And you never know - if your work is as good as your tutor thinks, the workplace may be happy to wait around for you after you have a second bubs..

Good Luck!!

thanks guys... you have both given me stuff to think about for sure! skill should be more important than size, but its a very 'glam' profession (make up MUST be worn etc etc) which makes me kinda self concious about the size thing..

by the way its hairdressing! ( i forgot that in my OP)

It is an intimidating industry, thats 4 sure.. I can understand your fears, but you are going to have to bite the bullet if you want to give yourself a chance.

I work at a TAFE that has a Hairdressing department, and I am pleased to say, that althought the majority are small, there are quite a few + size there as well.. So I think your in with a great chance.

Its odd isnt it...

I would feel way more comfy having my hair done by someone who looks like me!! So I go to the non up market shopping centre hairdressers. They come in all shapes and sizes there, and Ive never had a bad cut:)
