Removals

I have my :fingerscrossed: for our compassionate posting to come through soon.

I have only ever moved once with DH (we have been together 4 years) so I am not really up on all the removals stuff. We packed all our own stuff last time because I had a job lined up and needed to be there for it.

So, some questions:

Do you think that we will get moved before Xmas? (hoping for posting order 1st week Dec)
What do I have to pack myself?
Will they take food ie canned/packets?
Do we have to pay $470 for cleaning of the married quarter?

Does anyone have any scary removal stories? While I love the thought of someone else packing, I am a little freaked that they will be touching my stuff!

Do you think that we will get moved before Xmas? Umm, not sure on that one. You may be cutting it a bit fine because DHA need to get quotes from removalists & then they come around & do their own survey. Depends how many other uplifts they have to do I suppose
What do I have to pack myself? Clothes, persoanl items, as here_we_go mentioned anything you pack is not covered by insurance so they will write on the carton PBO (packed by owner)
Will they take food ie canned/packets? From my experience, each company is different. We were told they would pack anything unopened - they packed some stuff that was open & some that wasnt.

We moved out in January & still havent received a bill for any cleaning but maybe that is just luck - we did have to pay a cleaning bill when we left our last place though. Sometimes you can pay it off, it just comes out of the pay each fortnight.

All we had to do was have a general week house clean (which we done ourselves) and carpets to be cleaned. (which DHA pay for, and if comes out of the pay in about 4-5 weeks after moving):barf:
