First congrats to all the August mums. I like to read but don't post very often, plus it is so hard to keep up with you all.
Molly was born on the 18th and is my first. I was hoping to get some idea's on things we can do at play time and if there has been any toys which you are finding your bub loves.
At the moment we spend time pulling faces and making noises at each other, singing nursery rymes and checking out her new enviroment, but she is starting to notice her hands and it won't be long and she will be able to play with stuff. So I'm hoping for some idea's on toys.

Cheers
Annie

Hi Annie and Molly!

My DD is only just starting to pay attention to the toys on her baby gym. There is one toy that DS bought her that she loves - it's a crinkly caterpillar thing from ELC. It rattles when you shake it and it has cellophane inside so it's crinkly. She doesn't really play with it yet, but she loves it when we shake it around and show it to her.

Aside from that, just soft toys with different textures/colours/sounds. Some teething type keys or similar that she can chew on and wave about. Things that squeak.

HTH and feel free to pop in to our "chat" thread and join in the fun!

Congrats on your new little girl. My son James loves his activity tent. It is similar to a playmat but has a roof and dangly things to pull as well as the sqeeks etc on the mat. I think the brand is called Parents and is based on the parents magazine and can be bought in Myer. We bought it on sale before James was born for about $50 not sure of the RRP.

Make sure you come join us in our August thread even if you only pop in occassionally....

Hi!

DD loves her play gym, and she also has a sounds of nature swing thing which she adores. Her fav things at the moment are mirrors... she is sooo vain!
Apart from that she has this dangly spider thing which I hang on her stroller, she loves batting it with her hands and has now started to hold it with both hands. She also loves the sounds of the crinkly ears on her toy dog

Thanks guys,
We have an activity set but she isn't that into it, she prefers to watch the silver ceiling fan. At the moment all she wants to do is put her fists in her mouth. but it won't be long and she will be grabing and holding things, a crinkly caterpilla sounds great.
She is changing so much everyday, can't wait for more interactive play time.

Thanks for the invite to the chat threat. I will bite the bullet and join in for sure. :D

Hi Annie,

My bub sometimes likes her gym or musical bouncer thing, but most of the time she loves to stare at the lightbulb! Doesn't matter which room we are in she will seek out a light fixture (whether it's on or off) and stare at it smiling and cooing. DH has taken to calling the lights in the house bubs 'gods'.. lol.
