View Full Version : Does this happen to anyone else?
DD is 4 months and this has happened from day one. I will wake up anticipating her to wake for a feed (usually around 2-3am) and within 30 sec of me waking, she also wakes ready to be fed.
It is like we are connected in some kind of way. I am positive she is sound asleep as sometimes I have "slept thru" anticipating her feed and it seems that if I sleep thru she also does too. Its so weird.
I am trying to get her to sleep thru more regularly now and we have even introduced some rice cereal but she is still waking at the usual 2-3am. Do you think she is still waking out of habit as I am? She doesnt seem starving but is always happy to take the boob if offered.
Thanks for reading

Awww What a wonderful connection you have... You must be a great mummy!!!
As for the waking, G is 5 months as still does this sometimes. We go in times of yes and then sleep through, and then no and wake again. He is on solids and has been from 4 months... I havent tried to get him to sleep otherwise - i just feed him as i find it too early to worry about trying to get him to sleep otherwise, he usually takes the whole bottle. And i spose it isnt out of habit cause somedays he wont do it....

You are connected, it's wonderful and mystical and amazing isn't it!?
At 4 months you'll probably just make life hard for yourself, trying to get her to sleep through. Just go with the flow, offer the boob very often, and she'll settle into her own routine. I have always offered the boob more often than you're "supposed" to. And he feeds heaps and heaps in the early evening, then has his long sleep in the first part of the night. When he was 4 months old, he would go to sleep around 8pm, wake up around midnight for a quick feed then back to sleep, wake again around 4am-ish for a quick feed then back to sleep, then wake around 7am. But he's 6 months now, and that 4am feed has become a 6:30am feed. It's slowly been extended over the last couple of months.
Remember her stomach is the size of her fist, so it needs re-filling often. And rice cereal isn't going to help her sleep longer, in fact at this young age it might upset her tummy and make her wake more.
You're doing a fantastic job. FABULOUS. That anticipation feeling, that connection feeling, that intuition - listen to it. You're a great mumma :hugs:

At 4 months she should still be having night feeds. I know many bubs are sleeping through at this age, but I think they are the exception rather than the rule. My DS was still having regular night feeds up til 12months old.
In answer to your question, yes it happens to me too quite often. And exactly like you, sometimes I'll think I've slept through a feed to find that she has too.
I believe we are connected - Its the same with me - i tend to wake just before EJ - theres been times also where Ive had a bad dream and EJ has woken me cause shes upset or something just before the bad bit sorta like she could be having a similar dream or something?
Ohhh...this is spooky! I have with same with DD....never had it with DS though. I wake just b4 she does but I find if I have a sound sleep so does she! I definately feel connected but thought it was all in my head!

Same here. At first I thought some little noise she made had woken me. But no, she is always fast asleep and wakes up within about 10mins of me being awake.
It happens alot less now that she is older though.
I'm glad it happens to other people cause I thought I was the only strange one.
I had the same thing. Its beautiful.
I always thought it could be a breast feeding thing, and its your body telling you they are ready?
I have never bottle feed, so i could be very wrong.
But yes, what a great feeling it is..Enjoy it all you can. They grow up way to soon.

...yup, I have that connection too.......and isn't it beautiful......*sigh* :hugs:
Yes, it happened with me when my kids were bubs and it still happens now!
Usually now, I will be having a dream and the kids will yell out at the exact moment in my dream when they are supposed to! I will also wake in anticipation of them calling out and will often go into my ds's room just as he decides to get out of bed and come in to us (big no-no, he kicks something chronic!).
I used to sleep with my door closed, bub 2-3 rooms away and bub's door closed and yet I could hear every whimper in the night. I went from an incredibly heavy sleeper to a very light sleeper overnight! My dh went the other way unfortunately
The funny thing is ... if I am having a sleep and dh is up with the kids, I will sleep through absolutely anything - including the kids coming into the room and jumping on my bed!
