Hi all!

Ok, so Ive settled on a teddy bears picnic bday for my sons 1st this friday (party on sunday though).

Ive decided to make a cake. One normal slab one to cut up for everyone (going to decorate it to make it look like a picnic rug), then a second 3d teddy bear cake to sit on top. The teddy bear cake will be for my son to 'eat' by himself!

Sooo, Ive no idea where to start. How do I make it? Where do I go to buy supplies to make it? I plan to go out shopping on Wednesday for anything I need, so if anyone can give me any advice before then as to how Im going to do this.... I would be VERY appreciative!!! (Im starting to get a little stressed!!)

In hopeful thanks!! :o

Im not too sure, but i spose you could do acoule of smaller circle cakes (differnt size for head and body, then ears and arms and such). Even cupcake size, and just arange them into a teddy bear shape, ice as one....

we made a bear cake once... it looked like a big fat rolly polly bear but it was heaps cute...

we purchased EVERYTHING you need for it just at the local supermarket... coles/ wollies sell plain sponge slabs and circles... you could use 2 slabs as the blanket and a 2 circles for the bear + 5 small cup cake plain sponges.

use a whole circle for the bears tummy... trim down the other a little smaller for the head... one cup cake for each arm and leg... and cut the last one in half for the ears... SMOTHER in thick icing so all pieces are hidden and look joined underneith. sprinkle whole body and face with those brown choc sprinkles it makes a FUZZY look to the bear.... for the the face liquorish ropes make a good mouth and nose. smarties for eyes... marshmellow bow tie or whatever candy/lollies you feel like adding to make a bow / clothes / face shape. and thats about it ~!!

Thanks for the help guys... question though... would the icing be strong enought to hold the arm cupcakes up?
If so, how?

Thanks heaps!
