Hi all!
I didn't find this site until after I became preg and I was just wondering how long it took you guys to get preg. We got preg pretty much straight away after we started trying, I think we are pretty fertile and lucky people :D (I got preg with ds on the pill).
The anticipation would kill me if it took a long time. I guess I am a pretty impatient person!!
Just curious....

Hi Ellen! I went off the pill in Feb with the intention that we would start trying around April/May.. basically because we were waiting for my private health cover to cover pregnancy since we upgraded it and had a 12mth wait (and now we are going public. Go figure. )
So in April I think we 'did it' about 3 times the whole month and then I wondered why I wasn't pg! I wasn't on the pill after all. I was like, HEY! I'm ready now!! What's going on??!! In May, again we weren't very consistent but I actually think I conceived that month and had a chemical pregnancy - all sorts of weird stuff happened that I can only assume was pg (esp. now that I know what pg feels like!). Around that time I discovered temp charting but I had decided not to stress or try too hard so I only started taking my temperature on around day 12 in June. By Day 14 or 15 I was buggered and I had seen my temperature go up (or so I thought) so I figured it was over for the month (my cycle was 26 days). Lo and behold I ovulated on Day 17 that month! What the??! :(
So by July I was frustrated and very determined! Temperatures, an OPK.. I had the whole TTC package. No luck that month, so August saw the introduction of a Maybe Baby and a daily dose of Vitex.. (does this sound like a woman possessed to you?) and thank goodness we had success because I don't know what else I could have added for September!
So while it felt like a long time, it was only a couple of months once we got serious - and I did have that one in May (I think) so I'm hoping by the time we get to bub #2 I will feel confident enough that I can relax and just let it happen.
I think with the first one, there is so much fear about whether you can actually conceive or not. Once I started studying up on the whole thing, I started coming up with all sorts of fears since my luteal phase was short and my temp was dropping when it shouldn't be (too much knowledge can sometimes be a bad thing!! :D) so I'm glad I know all that stuff now, but my advice to anyone else ttc would definitely be to RELAX!! I felt certain August would not be the month - so was quite relaxed about the whole thing... and look what happened!

Hey Cosmic,
We stopped using contraception one cycle before this preg and I am also pretty sure the month before was a chem. preg. I got a + test 2 days before AF was due, it was sooo disappointing when it did come though. We weren't "trying" that month but also not preventing ;) . After that I vowed never to do another early test.
When I conceived this time around we only bd once 2 / 3 days before ovulation. Do you think the sex of the baby theory is correct?
I think you would have to be a really strong person to go through having conception problems. Someone I know has PCOS and endo and her husband has a nil sperm count. How unlucky can you get :( ?? They are currently trying AI. It just makes me realise how lucky we are to be able to conceive and what a miracle it really is!!!

hey ...
we were one of the lucky couples- I wasn't even off the pill for a full cycle before we fell pregnant... it took two weeks! We were aiming for a March baby (thought we would get some practice in first :D) and are about to have a November one instead!!!
DH was much relieved... as his general genital area seems quite magnetic to any flying object ... (he is CONSTANTLY injured!!!! especially when with his mates mucking around or playing sports!!!) - and he honestly wondered if the system would still work :D

Hello, well a year ago I found out I had a cyst on one of my ovaries and they
put me on bcp to get rid of it so I was on them from Oct. - Dec. and we started
late Dec. trying once I got off of bcp. My periods were messed up and I found
out I was not ovulating at all from Jan. - Jun. then I went to my doc and he
gave me some meds to help straighten my periods out and I started Oing in
July and didn't get pg that cycle so my cycle at the end of Aug. we finally did it
So all and all we tried for 8 cycles but I was only Oing the last 2.

I wasn't trying at all. I had what you would technically call an 'oops'. BCP failed but that said, I'm very happy with my beautiful little girl :)

I came off the pill in October to remove contraceptive residue in my body and to give me chance to form a regular cycle. After 12 years on the pill I had no idea  what my "normal" cycle was like.
We used barrier control for three months and kept note of my period dates. I fell instantly into a perfect 28 day pattern and decided mid January to chuck the condoms away and "go for it". Well the rest is history as I never got a Febuary period. I too was expecting to have a few months of practising ;) and getting used to the idea of GOING to be pregnant. But obviously everything was right for us and like I said the rest is history...I'm due this Friday coming
