Did anyone have stitches after their csection?

I didn't - I have no idea what they did, but it was just an angry red line that didn't bleed or weep.

My DH had cartlidge taken out of his knees and needed 4 stitches in each one.

How do they make a huge cut and not stitch it?

There are 2 possibilities.

Either you had glue or dissolvable stitches.

I had dissolvable stitches in mine and wouldn't really have known they were there had I not asked a midwife. My stitches were covered by tape & I could remove the tape (I think it was) 4 days after the op, but being terrified of causing myself pain (that tape was well & truly stuck on!!!) I think I left it for about a week. By the time I removed the tape, there was no real hint of any stitches remaining.

Your wound sounds exactly like mine, but it could have been either.

Everything is internal and dissolves. They probabaly took out a big suture the day you came home, that's the bit that was holding it all in.

I had staples and they pinched coming out. They were pretty yuck. My last c-section, I just had one long stitch across the incision and it was a lot of more comfortable.

i had stitches but they were on the inside if that makes sense so no visible 'stitches' . maybe that is what you had? it just looks like a red line, no tape over it or anything and nothing removed before i left

I think you can have stitches, staples and glue when repairing the wound. The stitches can either be removable or disolving... Glue and dissolvable stitches don't need to be touched afterwards unless there's a problem... staples, reg stitches do need to be removed.

I never SAW the stitches on my wound either... by the time I took the tape off, they'd disappeared and there was just a red line.

I had stitches both times ... the first time without the big stitch that holds you together across the belly and the second time with it and it was cut on day 2.

I'm not looking forward to ever having staples if I have another bub ... the thought makes me cringe:o

I had dissolvable stitches with DD. The tape covering the scar came off after a couple of days, no pain and no problems.

Same goes for me. First c-section was lots of staples and then second c-section was just one big long stitch.

I had the same ?? as you. I remember being really nervous about the tape coming off, so I didn't look at my wound until a day or two after I got home from hospital (issues), and I was shocked to see no stitches, just a line. I asked the home-visit middy and she told me that they'd stitched internally (still yet to figure out quite how this is done??), and they dissolve after a week or so.
Wonder why they don't do it all the time?

I had what I think everyone should have - internal dissolving stitches, and on the outside, little bits of tape to hold together the very outer layer (which is very thin, anyway, just like if you cut your finger). Within days to a week, the bits of tape simply fall off in the shower. But the wound is stitched internally very well, so you can give your wound a good wash every day without worrying that you'll pull it open. In this way, your wound heals without any sign of stitch marks, many layers are stitched, so the job is really good, and you don't have to have the added stress of having stitches or staples taken out after however many days. Almost two and a half years on, I can't even find my scar if I look for it, it's completely disappeared.

coming from someone who hasnt had a c/s(please excuse me if this is stupid:o )but just curious how the wound healed without stitches on the outside as well as inside?? is it coz the inside holds together the outside so it just heals back???(i hope that made sense!!)
