hello guys,
MVP or mitral valve prolapse is a benign condition of the heart..it's actually being diagnosed when the doctor hears a murmur or a clicking sound when they put their steths on one's chest to hear the heartbeat. and it's being confirmed through a 2DECHO or heart ultrasound. this can be inborn or acquired. it's not life-threathening but lifestyle-threathening....i have that.:( symptoms include but not limited to, chest pain, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, dizziness, anxiety and sometimes panic attack... so that means i have good and bad times when it comes to symptoms.....i'm feeling the symptoms now as i'm 5days away of my menstrual period (symptoms flare up during these days....)
anyone who has this too? you're not alone...

I have SVT, but with similar symtoms to what you are describing. I have the anexitey and panaic attack bits, but i have palpitations, twitchs, race thoughts and itch skin. Mine comes on with caffiene and flares up big time in preg. I was meant to have an op to fix, but was sent to private practice which we cant afford, so staying on meds.

i feel for you bekky..it's hard sometimes...i was completely unaware of it since i don't actually feel anything before...all is well until January last year when my OB-Gyne put me into pills...after just 4days of taking it, i was having shortness of breath. i stopped and then at the end of that month, the shortness of breath became more frequent. so i went to see a Cardio and i had a stress-test and the heart ultrasound. after that diagnosis (i don't know if it's psychological or something) a lot of symptoms surfaced...I ended up just staying at home and was afraid to go out...i had agoraphobia :( i've been to 4 cardios back in the Phils but the last one was the best. my symptoms are on it's worse during ovulation and PMS:( ...and i'm feeling it right now...

Oh hun i thought i was the only one i knew of :hugs:
I was diagnosed with mine whilst pg with DS3. I dont take any meds on a regular basis but i have been told in 10 years or so i may need an op to fix the problem.
The only time i do take meds is when i give birth, go to the dentist etc etc to avoid infections in my heart.
Its funny, as for years i have been going to the docs complaining of alot of the symptoms (esp palpitations) and all he could tell me was i was having panic attacks.... i knew for sure it wasnt that and im glad i now know that it wasnt just me being paranoid and i actually have a condition. ;)
My main issue with my MVP is that i also have a bleeding disorder where my blood doesnt clot properly... its a running joke in our house that i have a dodgy ticker to pump round my dodgy blood!

now you know you're not alone :hugs: i used to have anxiety attacks...i even experience bits of it sometimes..but thank God, eventhough i have the meds, by prayers really, i didn't have to take it. but right now, i'm just not really feeling well. last night, i experienced lightheadedness "big time"...i was cooking then suddenly i felt that way. DH is so sweet so he continued to cook what i'm cooking (the dinner still ended up with "my taste" haha) right now, i feel kinda weak and dizzy...can't stand even for few minutes...the symptoms are quite annoying. btw, how severe is your mitral regurgitation (coz you mentioned that you have to have an op in 10yrs time). do you feel chest pains too?
hugs to you,
jhet
