I was just wondering how many of you out there are still breastfeeding, how long you will be breastfeeding for and whether you have started your babies on solids yet.

Thanks

I'm breastfeeding DS, planning on full-term breastfeeding. I have tried him on some vegetable puree a couple of times and it's pretty obvious to me that he isn't ready yet. I've got some organic baby oatmeal which I'll try him on tomorrow morning but I'm not going to keep pushing it if he doesn't want it.

He's so healthy and robust, no need for anything other than his Bitty :D

I'm still feeding my 18month old. She's never been big on solids & now probably eats the same as alot of 9 month olds

I'm bf a 2.5 year old, tried him on solids when he was 6 months, but he would not take anything until 8 months, and went directly onto finger foods, will continue bf until he self weans.

My 9 month old also is bf, and he has barely had solids yet, pertly because he has pooing issues, and had colic which I'm wondering if may have had something to do with food intolerance, so we are going very slowly.

My babe is only 2 months old but with breastfeeding going so well from the word go I hope to breastfeed till he weans himself..
Hopefully not too early, I'd like to bf him till he is at least 2- W.H.O guidelines state the world median is 4 years, with most cultures feeding a little older than that. My mum fed my sister till she was 4.
Plus it's a good way to keep yourself in shape, and slow the return of periods, helps as a contraceptive for the first 6 months but no guarantees :)
I'll start him on solids sometime after 6 months when he starts indicating he's ready.

I'm breastfeeding my 6 month DD, no solids yet. She really isn't ready and/or interested in anything but booby! I plan to feed and feed and feed for as long as she wants! I'm lucky to have sooo much support from my gorgeous DH and extended family when it comes to breastfeeding. Yay! :smiliedance:

My DD is 10 months and started solids at 5 months (wanted to wait till 6 but she was really keen and kept trying to steal our food ...lol)She loves her food.

She still has 3-5 feeds a day and 1-2 a night.
I will feed her until she self weans, DD2 fed till 18 months.

Been breastfeeding for 11 weeks and plan to continue for a year - maybe more, maybe less.

I'll be introducing solids on a regular basis at 6 months though the munchkin will undoubtedly be getting a little lick of this and that from 4 months onwards.

Maybe. See how I feel then.

I'm kinda playing this mothering lark by ear.

currently BF'ing my 11 month old DS who started solids just before he turned 7mths. He is a pretty big eater who loves all solid food offered so far and is still breast feeding 5-7 times a day. At least 2 of those are a long, slow 'coma' feed (as we fondly refer to it:rolleyes: ).

BF DD for 18 mths as she self weaned when I became pregnant with DS.

I'm breastfeeding my nearly-4-month-old. I plan on keeping it up for a year, even with working .. I'm going to try and express for feeds during the day while I'm at work :)

I'm going to try and hold off solids until 5-6 months, he's already watching my eat and the rest now.. so we'll see.

I am bf'ing my almost 1 year old. She appears to be starting to wean herself so I think I'll just let her self wean.
DD started showing a lot of interest in food at 4 months. I held off ybtil 6 months to offer her solids and she didn't start eating until 9 1/2 months and only in the last couple of weeks has she been eating proper meals.

DS flat out refused me about 4 weeks ago... I started to panic, because I noticed hardly any poo or wee in his nappies, so in desparation, offered him a bottle of formula (which I had to race to the chemist to buy with DS screaming hysterically) and he guzzled it down like i'd been starving him...:crying: ... i bawled for hours. So I BF till 4 months, but was planning on doing so till at least 12 months.

My DD is 7 months and EBF and on demand I am so happy to have made it to 7 months I plan to keep going until 12 months I started solids at 5 months nothing regular if she wants it she has it although at dinner she sits with us and will burst into tears if we don't share, so she also gets what we're eating last night was sushi lol

ds is about 8 months and is breastfed on demand. he started solids at 6 months but nothing has taken his desire for boobie! he likes his food, but loves his boob.
I'll let him self wean, but if he hasn't done it by the time he goes to preschool, I'll wean him.

oh, Mitchellsmummy:hugs: You weren't starving him - they tend to guzzle when they drink from a bottle as it's so much easier - they don't have to work for the let-down like with bfing and it continues to come fast the whole feed instead of getting slower at the end.

My DS is 7mnths and bfeeds about 7-8 times a day, We started solids at 6mnths but he's only just starting to eat much. My goal is to feed him to two years unless he slef-weans first (I'd be surprised if that happened though as he loves his mummy milk!).

DS flat out refused me about 4 weeks ago... :crying: ... i bawled for hours. So I BF till 4 months, but was planning on doing so till at least 12 months.

I know where you are coming from, at least my little man waited until 9 months to give mummy the flick. He absolutely loved the bottle (much easier and quicker methinks). He'd had the occasional bottle of EBM from about 3 months but it wasn't a regular thing and then one day he ups and decides don't want to BF anymore, well you can't force them can you...

It was heartbreaking as I'd planned 12months+ but he sent me a pretty clear message. I'd been having supply issues (probably why he was unhappy) and was working really hard to rebuild it so it probably was for the best anyway. I get lots of cuddles and we still get quality time together, it is different but it is right for us and well, he wouldn't have it any other way.

My son is 6months and BF and has EBM in a bottle on sundays when I work. I hope to continue with BF till about 24 months, if he lets me. LOL. I wouldn't have a clue how to get him to sleep at night without the boobiejooce.

yep DD still loves her boobie & she's 13 months. I plan to let her self wean.
She started solids at 7 months but I did offer them earlier (about 5.5 months) she wasn't ready.

I'm BF my 6mth old baby girl. She started on some comp feeds of formula at 4.5mths due to supply issues and solids at around 5.5mths. She has really taken to her food and has 3 meals a day now (mainly just pureed fruit and veges) but thankfully still has upwards of 6-7 breastfeeds a day/night. Supply issues or not, she does love her booby.

I plan to keep feeding her until she self-weans.

Only early days here - 5 weeks - but going strong

I hope to keep going until he's one...I'm so surprised at how easy it has been this time and how much we are both enjoying it. The thought of him giving it up before I'm ready makes me teary already :( It's been such a positive experience for me this time around.

I'm breastfeeding my almost-9-month-old DD. she started solids at approx 6.5 months. I plan on breastfeeding for between 2 and 3 years although, i'm just going with the flow and i know that anything could happen before then. I'm hopeful though:yes:
