ok :)

I was chatting to DH - about a family I know, who decided to link a particular song to each of their kids.... so when comforting each child (hurt or tired) they had a particular song to do it with ....

Unfortunately their dad decided that Danny Boy was a great song for the eldest son (who has an intellectual impairment) - so the year I taught him... I was driven NUTS by the constant renditions!!! :D - it was his FAVOURITE song!!!!!! (lucky it was cute!!!!)

anyway - I am trying to start the same 'tradition' in our family- but DH and I are having trouble thinking of one song we like!!!!

please help!!!! I only have 4 weeks to go (if bubs keeps to schedule!!) - and I would actually like to start singing it to bubs while still tucked inside....

any ideas???

I love Bubhub! Sorry I thought I was the only crazy out there that did this! ;)

My eldest son's song is Phil Collin's "You'll be in my heart" from the Tarzan soundtrack, and for some reason my youngest son's is Uncle Kracker's "Follow Me"!

And this is going to sound crazy but when I went for my u/s and found out this bubs is a girl (which I desperately wanted), I got into the car and Brian Cadd's(not really sure on singer) "A little ray of sunshine" was just starting!!
It was quite bizarre actually and to top it off, the same weekend (after telling DH bub's was a girl) we were on a long trip and he woke me up saying how perfect this song was, considering we had just found out!

Hmmm either something weird going on, or our radio station is REALLY boring ha ha!

Anyway good luck with your choice, I personally thinks it's a great idea. Maybe something will jump out at you soon!

Ok, my DS doesn't actually have a song, but when I was pregnant I was listening to a lot of ACDC and believe it or not, played softly it seemed to calm him down!

My DF has always sung 'Sweet Child Of Mine' by Guns And Roses to our DD and she loves it. Only when DF sings it though. My song for her is 'Close To You'.
I think you can pick just about anything, if they hear it from you enough they just make the connection.

Good Luck! :D

You know, from "the sound of music", the austrian folksong that the children sing to their dad and then they sing together as a family before running off on the nazis. My mother actually sang this to my little brother (but its the one I remember, as I was 3, my song was actually "Daisy, daisy give me your answer do"). I sing it as a lullaby to DD2, DD1 decided a while back that she preferred "the coventry carol", so I sing that to her at bedtime instead. I actually had started singing her that b4 she was born, maybe that why she prefers it?)

DH sings "the Skye Boat Song" to both of them at bedtime (I'd never heard of it before either, but his dad sang it to him). Madonna had a cute kids song on "like a prayer", which I sing to my girls sometimes. I think it might be called "dear Jessie", has lots of mermaids, magic lanterns, pink elephants, leprechauns. It'd make a cool lullaby, but it is a bit loooong.

Cheers

Hi guys,

I wrote a song for my baby boy -

cheers
Jo

(sorry Jo - some might consider this advertising, since you sell your music. Don't mean to be harsh, but if I allow things for one person, then other people ask, etc, etc and it all gets out of hand! :) Hilary

Hay Nara I too use Phil Collin's "You'll be in my heart" from Tarzan . I use this for both my kids. I also have the songs which were no.1 the day they were born which are "Hay Baby" and "Out of the Blue" by Delta

When I was pregnant with Bella, we had Chilli Peppers "Californication" album in the car, so now if she is a bit grumpy it always settles her!

Dan, well anything but me singing! The silly thing is that I am actually not a bad singer ...no accounting for taste!

Nara, Little Ray of Sunshine seems to be this baby's song also  Since the day i found out i was pregnant that song has come on the car radio so many times... i made a fathers day web page/card from the baby for my BF and had that song as the background as he sings it a bit about the baby also...

The song came on on the bus radio the morning i was to have my 20week U/S (the ob had said a few days earlier that thought it was a boy - he was wrong it seems) then after the U/S it was on the car radio on the way home...
PS i think the singer is glen shorrick? (not sure on the spelling there)
