Hey guys I am interested in getting a baby sling, I would like one that can be used from birth to toddler, that's comfortable, not 'bulky', and is easy to use and affordable... Can anyone recommend one??
Also, what are they like on your back especially for carrying a 6 1/2 mth old, after using the baby front pack carrier it has done some damage to my back, and I have troubles carrying bubs for longer periods... :o
P.S I am sort of leaning towards Slingalong - what are they like??
Haven't used a slingalong, sorry. I've been using a hipbubby sling since ds was born and he was in it today at 23 months. It cost me about $45.00 and rolls up to fit in my handbag, washes easily, dries quickly, goes front, side, facing out, facing you, on the back. What more could you want??? And it's in perfect condition and will be used for any other kids we have too :D I like buying from WAHMs rather than big companies where ever possible.

They look great Janet.
I've been looking at these....they are similar, now I have to decide on either the hipbubby or this one. www.mumasupial.com.au (http://www.mumasupial.com.au)
I have an ergo baby carrier that is fantastic - after ruining my back with a baby bjorn this is heaven - and copes with my toddler and baby. The manufacturers website is www.ergobabycarrier.com but I bought mine from Amanda at www.carryingaway.com.au - she is in Brisbane and you can go and see her in person. She carries a large range of different slings and can tell you which one suits you and your baby.
The things I like about the ergo - it is all fabric and washable, light, the weight goes into your hips and not your shoulders, you can carry babies up until they are about 5 years old, and it is easily adjustable. (and you can wear them on the front if you need to as well.)

Okay thanks guys, another Q, I am looking at the 'hipbubby' design, what are the benefits of a pocket being added and with a pocket can you still put them in all the positions comfortably?
I have a pocket one. It makes no difference to the sling because it's way down the bottom of the tail and nowhere near the bit your baby is in. It was handy for carrying a few nappies because with a booby baby in a sling, that's all you need to take out!
Bliss ;)
