View Full Version : Please help me...
This is going to sound really dumb but anyways.
My DF and i want to get our son Christened but we have absolutly no idea who to go to,what to do, how to organise one etc.
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how to get started with organising one.
He is almost 3 months, how old was your baby when they were christened?
Any advice would be extremely appreciated.
I swear i feel like such a bone head asking this.
There easy!!
*Contact the church you want to use
*Set a date with the church
* Pick your God Parents
*Go into the church & meet the priest & sign some forms
*Pay a donation to the church on the day
*see if the church supplies the christening candle
*find an outift
*make/buy a cake
* have a morning tea or a lunch afterwards
My DD was 5mths when she was christened
GOODLUCK

exactly what cupcake said, I didn't get DS christened but blessed at 6wks old, and we did basically the same thing minus the god parents
I forgot to ask, do both parents have to be the same religion to use a certain church, like both catholic to use a catholic church or what ever??
Thanks you guys
well i'm catholic and my hubby is nothing, we didn't have a problem, although the church we used was for any denomination(sp)

I'll take this one!
We had our boys Baptised Catholic as I'm Catholic but DH is not. We were also married in a Catholic church and it didn't make any difference, as Father said to DH "we'll take anyone!"
OMG! I had to do a three month thing ( including this test thing - sort of like a HSC exam lol ) before being allowed to get married in a catholic church, had to prom to raise the child catholic etc etc if we had any and I have just booked my priest for the christening and I have to do these meetings before the christening?? lol:confused:
However I had to book 8 MONTHS in advance for the church and priest for the christening because they also do weddings so I would say do the church/priest asap. :hugs:

Yep, we did that too Caithi (the pre-wedding stuff). Did the 'test' too! That was hilarious as I finished before DH and started asking me things like "what did you get for no. 35?" - it was more like a survey than a test. It was a good idea though (the counselling) because DH & I didn't live together before getting married it helped us with things such a finances, day to day runnings of a home etc.
With the Baptisms we just went to one meeting, along with the other parents of the babies being Baptised just so Father could run through what was going to happen on the day, what Baptism means and most importantly...so everyone could nominate family members to do readings etc!

lol  Sounds like my DH.. only problem was I was soooooooooo tired I just started filling in any circle then the priest called me the next week and asked me why I felt physically scared of my DH??? Oooops - maybe I should have actually read the last 20 qs.
