Would you mind answering some of my q's????
DS's 2nd birthday  is a couple of months away, but what with christmas just round the corner, I want to start getting prepared and saving up some $$$ well in advance.
So....for your little ones 2nd birthday party....
Did you have a theme?
How many kids did you invite?
What food did you have?
What games did you play?
What activities other than games did you have set up (ie did you have a jumping castle or anything like that...if so, was it worth the $$$)
Was it on a sat or sunday?
How long did it go for?
How long before the party did you send out invites?
My bubs bday is the begining of Feb and we are in QLD so it will probably be pretty HOT...so I was thinking either a 930am party or later in the afternoon, say 4pm...which do you think would be better?
Thanks ladies!!!
DD's 2nd birthday party was only two weeks ago!!
To answer your questions:
1. Yes we had a theme...Nemo (she's really into it) and she loved it!!
2. lots of family but around 6-8 kids,
3.mainly finger food nibbly type stuff. Quick and easy.
4. No set games, just put alot of toys out and let the kids run wild. I found it was a hard age to have set games as they were excited and there attention spans GONE!! (too much sugar:banghead: )
5. I personally dont think that giant jumping castles are worth it at this age. I might try one next year, as she will be more independant and want to go it alone and have the stability to do so.This time I just set up the pool and put a heap of toys outside.
6. We had ours on a sat and it was great!!
7. Ours only went for three hours, as the kids started to get tired, but family stayed for longer.
8. I put the invites out two weeks before the party.
either party time would be good (IMO) if your parties are anything like mine. 9.30 party-people end up staying for lunch OR 4pm they stay for dinner!!
Hope that answers your questions!:detective:

Did you have a theme?
Yes my son was really into sharks...still is sowe had a kind of shark/mermaid party (coz i love mermaids lol)
How many kids did you invite?
We invited 10 but only 5 showed up as ds's b'day is in the middle of winter aka flu season lol
What food did you have?
I made mixed sandwiches plus fairy bread, little animal shaped meat pies, fresh fruit (watermelon was a big hit) cheese and rice crakers, some lollies and water/milk to drink
What games did you play?
Due to it being in the middle of winter we opted for a party play centre....a small one which just hosted our party it was great as the kids were entertained while parents mingled.
What activities other than games did you have set up (ie did you have a jumping castle or anything like that...if so, was it worth the $$$)
The playcentre was def. worth the $
Was it on a sat or sunday?
Saturday morning
How long did it go for?
2hrs which i felt was long enough as the kids need a middle of the day nap party was from 10-12
How long before the party did you send out invites?
3 weeks before the party
I would opt for the afternoon if its really hot that way its cooler, coz by 9.30 it would still be pretty hot especially when kids are running around etc
Good luck!

1. Did you have a theme?
No
2. How many kids did you invite?
All up there was 8 kids (including Hayley) but 2 were little babies so they couldn't really do much
3. What food did you have?
The adults had a bbq and the kids had party food (sausage rolls, party pies, fairy bread, chips and lollies) and birthday cake oh and the kids also had frog in a pind (jelly in a cup with freddo frog)
4. What games did you play?
None, majority of kids were too young I WAS going to do a lolly hunt but didn't get round to it, maybe another time.
5. Was it on a Sat or Sun?
Sunday
6. How long did it go for?
It went all day, I just wrote on the invites '12:30 til whenever' a few ppl left at about 4pm or 5pm but other ppl stayed abit longer.
7. How long before the party did you send the invites?
2 weeks, though some ppl didn't get them until a few days before (stupid Aust post)
In Queensland I think its better to have it in the afternoon coz it might be too hot.

Did you have a theme? Fancy dress!
How many kids did you invite? 30
What food did you have? Fruit platters, cheese platters (cheese cubes and rice crackers for kids and grissini, real ones for the parents), sandwiches, sausages and chicken sticks, pumpkin soup (we had grown a heap and i needed to get rid of them).
What games did you play? (hide and seek, pass the parcel, dancing)
What activities other than games did you have set up (ie did you have a jumping castle or anything like that...if so, was it worth the $$$) Jumping castle was under $200, a great finding nemo one with a slide!
Was it on a sat or sunday? saturday from 10.30
How long did it go for? last guests left at 8pm!
How long before the party did you send out invites? 2 months as alot of the guests were in my mothers group so i was getting first dibs on the date my in laws could fly down for it!I would go for a 9.30am party, have a wading pool or two filled up and play some sort of fishing game? Make sure you have plenty of shade and iceblocks!!!!!!!
Have fun i am jealous i love a party!
