Hi all,

We've started our antenatal classes, and it was suggested we bring some music along for the labour.

I was wondering if anyone else had made a tape or cd themselves with baby type songs, or if there are already suitable cd's we could buy.

Or even if someone used a tape that was great for relaxing/guiding you through the labour.

To get the ball rolling I've thought of "With Arms Wide Open" by Creed.
And "Ray of Light" by Madonna (we're expecting a girl, and I don't even know if it's about her daughter, but it sort of sounds that way to me).

PS, if anyone has songs suitable for boy babies, feel free to add those too - it may be helpful for those expecting a boy.
eg, "Beautiful Boy" by John Lennon.

HI there,

My best friend made up several tapes for the birth of her little one...and we took them into the delviery suite...these were tapes of songs that her and her husband like and have grown up with...unfortunately though, they got forgotten about in the heat of labour and she did not even put the stereo on...poor thing, cause she spent many hours taping them....

I know that there is a baby CD...something called silence...something or other and it is at Kmart/Babies Galore and any major store...sorry I do not know the exact name of it, but I am going to purchase it this weekend so if noone gets back to you with what I am thinking of today, I will let you know on Monday.

PS I did not mean to discourage your taping/birth plan in anyway in regards to my best friend story...just thought I would share a story with you...and give u an idea of what they taped.

Hi Bjelly

What a nice idea to have music during labour. This is something I missed out on due to+ c/s

Some suggestions however:

Enya
Tony O'Connor (relaxation music) My favourite is his Mariner CD
Baby Baby Amy Grant - She wrote this song for her baby
Vivaldi's Four Seasons - if you want something classical

Easterlily :)
