Engagement Party but no date set..?

Hi all
My DP proposed to me in August 05, and I got my ring in January this year. I was pregs when I got the ring and we didn't announce it til then, and we haven't really done anything else about it...
We didn't have an engagement party at the time because I was pg and wouldn't have been able to drink or anything (and 8pm was a late night for me then!!), and it hasn't really been discussed since.
Is it too late to have an engagement party?? And do we have to announce when the wedding's going to be at the party?? (LOL I have NO idea about these things!!)
We don't know when we're going to have the wedding, we haven't really discussed it, and I have a feeling it's going to be a looooong engagement.. Weddings are expensive and we have a young bub so, you know, priorities..
Anyway back on topic....:ecomcity: is it OK to have an engagement party and not have a date in mind??

Absolutely! I think that since you are planning on having a long engagement you should definitely have an engagement party, don't worry about how long after the actual engagement it was. As for a wedding date, I don't think it's necessary to have it firmed up for the party, one thing at a time!

We skipped the engagement party and spent the money on the wedding instead and had it sooner than we would have been able to if we had both....

I think if you are having a long engagement all the more reason for a party! Any reason is good in my book!
