Hi,
Help me!
I have been feeling really sickly all day, and achey now I have a blinding headache
I took my BP as normally it's quite low as in 100/60 or 110/80
and right now it's 130/83
is that considered high?
any websites I can look at?

Devon_mouse - it doesnt seem to be too bad. The first reading on your blood pressure "130" is the environmental factors and it can fluctuate. The second numbers on the other hand the "83" is what they worry about. The 83 is actually a good reading. When those second numbers go over 100 is when to worry. If you are concerned though just talk to you GP or Midwive and they can confirm it with you. I hope that makes you feel better.

hmm thank you
I am wondering if the extra blood increase and heartrate has factors as well due to where I am in the pregnancy.

Im not really sure on that. From memory your blood pressure shouldn't change that much during pg, but dont quote me on that. Yes your blood and heartrate does increase the closer you get to the end of pg. My blood pressure didnt change at all during pg it stayed on 110/60 the whole time. Like i said before it might be a good idea to talk to your midwive about this the next time you see her. How far along in the pg are you?

Devon Mouse,
I'd still be careful and chat to the Midwife at the hospital that your going to have your baby in. I developed preeclampsia, and after i had my son, the dr wouldnt let me leave as my blood pressure was still 140/90. So please be safer than sorry. Its not worth it.
Take care and try to rest up.
Cheers & Goodluck

I think it would be a good idea, to make you feel better about it, by discussing it with the Dr. Im sorry im not much help to you. I know a little bit about blood pressures and stuff because i learnt it at TAFE for nursing. When i get the degree ill be able to help you out a lot more. By the time that i get that degree, your baby will be 6 years old! :D So for the moment i dont know much at all.

you do have to remember that you have low blood pressure so having blood pressure like that will make you feel ill and really odd.
My normal blood pressure is 80/60 and it went up to 130/100. The doctor didn't have a problem with it until I told him what my normal blood pressure is. After that they basically just monitered me and I had to keep an eye on it at home with a portable kit

My BP's risen a bit since i first got pregnant (was about 120/75 at my 1st Ob appointment) and Im also on beta blockers anyway for slight tachycardia which my Ob wanted me off by the time I had the baby originally. After my BP rose up to 150/80 (i was having some blood noses and headaches also) he ended up increasing the dose to drop my BP more along with testing my kidney function in case it was a cause- the last few appointments its been about 135/80 and im feeling a lot better in myself I can always seem to pick when my BP goes up...
He's watching the BP closely though incase it decides to jump up again... in the past (non pregnant) i have had a couple of times its gone REAL high which made me feel terrible (180/140 and 160/120) and I ended up in casualty and on oxygen each time that happened:(
