I just wanted to see who bought your baby's going home outfit from the hospital. And a what stage did it get bought?
My Mum chose what my son came home in and my Dad chose what my daughter was to wear. They bought it thankfully after they were born as I had my son in double cloth nappies and my daughter was in a pavolic hip harness and so they both needed EXTRA room in the nappy/leg region.
It was a big deal for my parents to get to choose the outfit but they didn't understand why my other half didn't want to buy it as my Dad was REALLY excited about buying each of the outfits for myself and my two brothers when we were coming home.

My grandmother bought my DS his going home outfit. It was white with this little bear attached to the chest area on it. He looked so cute in it! :p It was very warm for him as well which he needed living up here in the mountains. She bought it for him about 1 month before he was born. The going home outfit doesnt need to be glamourous since they are just going home afterall! :D

I bought Eloise's, a gorgeous little yellow all in one - unfortunately she had mild jaundice and so looked like a big lolly banana :o

i brought both my sisters little boys going home outfit and her daughters going home outfit. I brought them both they day they were born so i knew what sex they were. I would say my sister will buy the going home outfit for my little one which will hopefully come any day now!! (1 day over due) :D
OMG I have no idea what bub wore home! I was so desperate to get out of hospital all I can remember is how tiny he looked in the carseat and that I had a really hot thai curry for dinner that night- yay for no more heartburn!!

My mum bought Max's going home outfit, but he didn't wear it home. I'm sure it was horrendously expensive. I just wanted to get out of there and couldn't be bothered changing his outfit. There wasn't any family around when we left, so it didn't really matter. He wore it the next time she came around. hehe. Hopefully she'll never know.

Hi All
I picked out both babies' going home outfit to pack for the hospital, DH couldn't have cared what they wore home. I just picked out of the goodies that we had already - DD1 had a very cute top someone had given her and pants I'd bought, DD2 had the one new outfit that I'd bought her (which was also v cute).
Cheers

DH wasn't around when DD1 came home from hospital and wouldn't have cared what she or DD2 wore - he was just worried about whether the capsule had been fitted correctly.
I had a really cute bodysuit (no legs) that I bought in New York while pregnant that was blue with a real rubber duck - and DD1 wore that home. DD2 wore a pink Bonds grow suit because the weather turned cold that day. Not at all glam but very cute anyway!

My mum knitted the family traditional going home outfit. It was beautiful but MJ was so tiny that it swam on her :p I ended up sending DH out the day before to buy her something to wear. He got her a very pretty mauve long sleeve top & JEANS  both in 0000 which again were too big. She did look very stylish though i do admit :D

I had a nice little Pumpkin Patch outfit - romper with short sleeves, appropriate for the weather here. It was one of two I bought, but it was not really intended for a "coming home" outfit - I just liked it more than any of the other outfits and it was really soft too. Like wattle, I just wanted out of that hospital!

Both my girls came home in white jumpsuits, wrapped in white blankets. Don't know why but that is just how it happened. I think because both times I did not know what I was having I only packed white clothes for bub so it didn't matter if it was a boy or a girl and I think I had sizes from 0000 to 00 packed!!

I bought this beautiful little pink and white dress for the baby girl I was expecting to have. Wasn't much good to me though when I had a baby boy. My mum stopped at the shops on her way to pick me up and take me home and bought the only 0000 outfit in the shop - a very cute pair of cream overalls with a crab on them and a green and white shortsleeved jumpsuit.

I have really silly questions, but can I ask why we have to buy a special outfit for the baby to go home in? I don't understand the purpose of it, from Hospital to Home, who's going to see the baby? Is this some sort of a tradition? I wasn't born in Australia so I think I'm a bit behind on this sort of stuff.
Also I live 5 minutes away from the Hospital so do you think I would need one
Sorry to be a pain asking silly questions :o

Hi All
I knew nothing about the tradition ( but think it is v cute that some kiddies went home in the outfit that Dad was in etc).
All I knew was that it was going to be the very first time that I would get to dress baby in something that WASN'T from the hospital baby stockpile and I wanted it to be something I had chosen esp for her.
Cheers
My daughter came home in the same dress I wore home from hospital and I have packed it away in hope that one day her daughter can do the same. My son came home in an outfit my mother had bought when I first found out I was pregnant whith my Daughter. I guess she thought i was having a boy.

I have a 0000 white growsuit that was the first thing both of my kids ever wore, and I have it packed on the top of the baby's bag so it will be the first thing this baby will ever wear. I'm 5 minutes away from the hospital too, so I didn't really pay much attention to what they wore home, but I'd like to keep the growsuit for my grandchildren.
