I just have a quick question for those paying child support.

DP lost his job back in August and the paymenst went to minimal.

He got another job and arrnage for the payments to coem out of his pay packet before the pay hit the bank but we still recvieved a bill and i stil payed it

Anyways he left that job for another job and we recieved a letter in the mail that we owe $800 dollars

I dont understand how we would owe that much money as i paid the bill and have receipt numbers the works.

When DP called child support and told them that we had paid every bill they had sent us and that the last job had arrange to take the money out before it went in the bank.

CS told us that the person who had lodged teh forms had lodged them wrong and nothing had been taken out so i explained to them that we were still receiving bills and that they were getting paid.

He said that was because the employer had lodged the paperwork correctly. I then said that becuase we had paid the bills that we owe nothing adn he said that we still owed the money becasue it was meant to come through the employer but didn so the bills didn count.

WTF????

Do you have payslips to show that your DP paid CS through his work, it should be listed on them. This happened to a friend of ours where the account his work was paying into was the incorrect CSA account or something but because he had his payslips to show that his work had paid to CSA, he is now getting a refund because his bill was double paid.
So if anything, you should be in credit if it was paid out of his wages and then you paid again when you received the paper bill. I would be ringing them again as that is not right, keep going, don't give up if you've got the proof that it has been paid, I hate CSA, they always stuff up. It doesn't matter how it gets paid, if it gets paid well then that's paid isn't it, they can't tell you that just because the employer stuffed up, your payments on the paper bills don't count. Don't let them put it over you. I have a really good site that has heaps of info on CSA if you want it PM me and I will send it to you. Good luck

The ex has to agree it was CSA money and not for anything else...but if you going through the CSA that shouldnt apply anyway...only if you made private payments...They in our experience will try to pull a swift one but if you push it ie: ask to speak to senior officer provide all documents etc...they do finally fix it...it is an organisation unfortunately that is riddeld with red tape and as it stands favour the payee not the payer...though I believe it is going to change and become a more balanced thing...they dont like having to give money back as it xtra work for them...

Definitely do the crosschecking and do it fast. We do NAP, so I can't really speak for CSA taking the money out - can't understand how this has happened for you. However, what I do know is there is no hesitation in asking for back pay from the payer, but if you over pay, you've got buckleys of getting back pay from the payee (we were told to try small claims where it would have cost us more to get it back, and probably would have had access witheld)
