My ds is just over 4 months old and used to sleep really well at night from about 8 - 7ish but the last 3 weeks he has turned back to waking every 4hrs or so
my pead told me to start him on solids etc but that hasnt changed his sleep pattern
he has also decided that he must be rocked or patted to sleep each sleep (my fault he was sick for a week and that was the only way I could calm him) he also hates sleeping through the day but has been having one big sleep of 3 or so hours
has anyone got any little secrets I could try??
Hey,
Do you give him a bath each night? I find that and wrapping my 4 month old DS works well.
I too have the day sleep drama - after his 1st hour he needs to be patted back to sleep.
I was thinking of starting solids but my Mat Nurse told me to wait till he was 6 months ... his been biting me and always seems hungry so just wondering how yours is going and why they suggested the solids? I'd like to start!

they suggested the solids because he was doing similar things to yours, he was chewing on absolutely everything and watching when we ate and was getting bored with just his milk plus was wanting to feed every 2 - 3 hours
I started him on farex and introduced some vegies and he is going great guns, I didnt feed him everyday or in big volumes but he absolutely loves the vegies - didnt like the vegies but I mix in some fruit so it isnt bland
I was told he he can swallow the food (not spitting it all out) means that he is ready because there tongue has to develop the action to push the food to the back of his throat - which he has. keep in mind thye will still spit the food out but you can tell the difference
and now he is drinking water with the food so that is good because otherwise he wouldnt take just water

Hi, just wanted to let you know that it's really common for them to start waking at 4mnths if they've slept through b4. In my mums group most of the bubs slept through early, then most started waking up at 4mnths. Different mums tried different things - not feeding -just offering water, resettling; starting solids; or just keep feeding whenever bubs wanted to and they all seemed to start sleeping through again recently regardless of what the mums did, so I think maybe it's just a phase they can go through.
