Hi guys- I've been eyeing off the Grobags for a while now- I like the look of them as they are 100% cotton (exzema is an issue in this family) and come in different weights. It's a large amount of money to hand over for an article of clothing though- so I want to be sure I'm spending it on something worthwhile first.

So, those of you who's babies wear a sleeping bag when they sleep, can you please share with me who they are made by and how good you find them to be? It would really help me decide which one to go with!

Thanks sooo much! :D

Claire sleeps in a grobag. we have two that we alternate - one to wear, one to wash, so we spent $160 on them in total. she's 16 months old and has been wearing the two sleeping bags for the past 7 months, and doesn't look like growing out of them anytime soon, I would say that she'll be wearing them still when she's 20 - 24 months old, so I guess that would work out to be less than $15 per month.

I know it seems like a massive outlay, but I can't praise them enough. We switched to them when Claire stopped wanting to be wrapped. She's never woken up cold in the middle of the night, and she always knows that its time for bed when we put her in it at nap or night time, and goes straight to sleep pretty well.

I love Grobags!

Emma, Emily is also in a grobag and has been for a few months now. We decided on the 1 tog weight due to aircon in the bedroom. It's wonderful, no having to tuck in sheets delicately in fear of waking her up. It's also very good in keeping her warm during those night feeds.

We use a grobag too and I think they are fabulous.

I did buy a cheap polar fleece one with arms over winter (we live in Canberra) but I really don't think he slept as well, sometimes he felt cold and other times he would be pretty sweaty so I stopped using it. I had also bought one off ebay that turned out to be a nylon material, which had similar problems. So I only used them on wash days if the grobag hadn't dried by nighttime. Aside from the not breathing issues I also found he grew out of the cheaper ones really quickly. A case of penny wise, pound foolish I think...

We have also used a RedCurrant lightweight cotton one, similar to the grobag, when we went overseas (winter here, summer there) and I found it OK. But it isn't as easy to put on and off as the grobag so I wouldn't bother changing brands again.

we are big fans of the grobag too  i started with another brand...living well or something bough from David Jones for about $50 when DD was 6 mths. Was no good - paint on zipper flaked off and always got caught. although I liked the concept so bought a Grobag and DD loved it so much. she's now almost 2 1/2 and has a full collection of weights (.5 tog/1tog/2.5tog) and shows no sign of wanting to stop using them. she loves her ''bag''. as soon as DS stops needing wrapping he'll graduate to them too. we also have eczema in the family and it's important as you know not to let them get too hot so having a couple of weights works well for us in that way. also - despite the washing instructions I wash in hot water to nuke the dust mites and dry in sun. colours have faded a bit but the fabric is still in mint condition.

hey emma

pay a little visit to the babies galore website or preferably the actual store if you can make it. they make one of their own for considerably less that is just as good. and they are going to have an oline store sale in about two days.................

I think the grobag is the best thing I have bought!!

We have a 2.5 tog Grobag and I also bought a "Living Textiles" 0.5 tog for the summer - both from Babies Galore.

Because of the high price I decided to get a unisex design (yellow) so it would get more use for future kids IYKWIM...

If you want to buy online - check out www.bumpto3.com.au
If you want to find somewhere near you that sells them try - http://www.grobag.com.au/wheretobuy.aspx

Love Grobags. They're the best. I have 2 that I used with my son in winter here is brisbane. They are both 2.5 tog and we used them for ages. I paid $80 each and they are well worth it. Now that it's getting hotter they're just sitting in the cupboard.

Ooh, I just bought one today - Jack is asleep in his now and he looks so cute! I went with the 1.0tog which I think is best for this weather (around 20 deg in Sydney at the moment). Do you think it's worth buying a 0.5 as well? Or would the 1.0 last the summer if I just popped him in a singlet and nappy for when it gets really hot?

And is it easy to change a night nappy while they're on? There does seem to be lots of material. Oh well, I guess I'll find out in about two hours!

Gee, thanks for the reviews, guys! Grobag gets a big  !! I went through with my grobag purchase- should recieve it in the mail on Monday! :smiliedance:
You've all made me feel like I did the right thing, and maybe it will help establish a routine when Ariene starts sleeping in her cot for day sleeps in a few weeks - you know, cuddle, get in grobag, feed, bed etc. It sounds like a good thing to have a sleep association with and might help her sleep for a bit longer between night feeds... maybe? If I'm lucky?! :D She really has outgrown her other, cheaper one.

So thanks peoples, much appreciated!
