Hi

I need some advice here. My AF was due on approx 1st of November. I did the pregnancy test and the test line was faintly positive. But i think that i am pregnant because in Ria's case also it came as light and then it darkened within a week. I will test it after one week.

Byetheway i should come to the point. Ria is currently breastfed and for the past one month she wakes up a lot during night. On an average, she feeds every two hourly in 24 hours. I have tried her on solids but she is not interested. But i am doing my best to start her.

I need some advice because i feel so confused reading all the matter on the internet. My husband gave me the opinion to wean her but i don't want to. Any advice or opinion would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Priya,

There is a bit of confusing info around perhaps because many people assume you would need to wean if you were pregnant - you dont. You can breastfeed through a pregnancy -I have done this myself, then my daughters 'tandem nursed' -unless otherwise advised due to a complication with pregnancy such as a threatened miscarriage. However, breastfeeding itself will not cause miscarriage or complications - you are more likely to experience a dwindling milk supply as the pregnancy hormones take effect. This may be why your baby is waking more frequently for feeds.

Whatever you choose to do it is good to be well-informed -The Australian Breastfeeding Association will have relevant booklets and are a fabulous resource.
