View Full Version : Suddenly Gone Off Vegetables!!
My 6.5mth DD has suddenly gone of vegetables. Will only eat fruit, porridge, yogurt and chicken. However last night at my mum's place I gave her some potatoes that had been baked in a little olive oil and she gobbled it down!! Is this ok? It seems she has gone off the bland stuff. So should I try baking some potato, s/potato and pumpkin and see how we go? Is a tiny bit of oil ok? I won't add any salt.
Alternatively if I make them the normal way (steaming and just blending) can I add a bit of grated tasty cheese for some flavour?
It's getting a little frustrating that she's gone off them when she used to love them. Could she be bored of them because of all the new flavours I've given her?

I found that once my daughter got a taste for the sweet stuff, she wouldn't have a bar of vegetables. Maybe lay off the fruit as much and try some new flavours of vegie. This battle of vegetables will continue throughout much of your lives when she is a child. Fun times.

Try flavouring the vegetables by coating them with a tiny bit of butter and a tiny pinch of "Massel" salt reduced stock powder. (No MSG) Mix it all together in a saucepan.
I have found also that children like their veggies steamed until they are soft unlike adults who can eat them in their sometimes stringy state, depending on the vegetable. I don't boil the veggies because it boils the vitamins out, so I prefer to steam.
Children do need a little bit of salt as well as a little fat in their diet as we all do, just not too much of it. They are growing and so will utilize it more efficiently.
Try adding a bit of stewed apple to the veges ... sometimes they just want them "sweetened" a bit and will happily eat them!

My son when off he vegies at about 8 months old, he now refuses to eat any kind of vegie, i still offer them to him every night with his dinner in the hope that he will just pick them up and eat them, i too put olive oil on them as my dp mother is Italia an she `s put olive oil on everything  but she said it would change the taste and make it more apeeling to him, athough it hasnt worked yet!

My son started a few months before he turned 2, he would ever only eat his meat on his plate and that was it, so i started mashing all of his veges together like he was 6 months old again, and fed it too him like that. I figured he watched my 10 month old eat like that so he thought it was ok, He now eats his veges all mashed together and if he eats all of them i then give him some meat.
