Hi there I just want to know what other people gave their little girls for presents for their first birthday...happybirthday

I dont want to go too OTT but then its confusing when I look at what's in the toy section, so I thought I'd ask what people got for their DD or DN and what was actually played with?? we're not having a a party as we've just moved and dont know anyone well enough so I guess I cant rely on friend presents like I kind of did with my son... not too worried about price but as I said dont want to go over board plus her birthday day is Dec 20th so 5 days before Christmas and obviously want to give her something for that too... mostly cos her big brother now understands the whole present idea and cant wait to go buy presents for her and give them to her so I guess I need a few ideas!!
All ideas taken into consideration oh and if you got them something or were given something that they just didnt play with or you thought were inappropriate I guess dont go there tips too!

Thanks in advance for your help!
Natalie

My son got a few toys that have blocks in them (trucks and things like that), but at 21mths, he still loves playing with the blocks.

I think it is also nice to give a keepsake thing, like a jewellery box or ornament. I also love the idea of planting a special tree in the yard:)

We got DD an activity table. We got a fisher price one that has music and stuff but there are heaps of different ones around. DD's b'day is not til 17/11 but she got the table the day we brought it coz DH wanted to test it out

For christmas she's getting blocks, probably the mega blocks ones (to add to what DS already has, he'll be getting lego for his b'day in march and all the mega blocks will move to DD's room). Probably a doll of some sort, maybe a pram. I also fill their 'santa bags' with things like 'take n toss' cups, DS is getting Thomas the tank and DD is getting the disney princess ones. Things like balls, bath toys, inflatable toys for the pool, etc. A few 'food' things like fruit bars, small lollies, etc, and drinks (baby poppers, pop tops with their fav characters, etc).
