Has anyone tried the camping out method? When you stay in the room with bub, no eye contact until he falls asleep like that, then each night (or two-three nights) move a little bit further towards the door and repeat the process? It sounds a little more gentler than controlled comforting, as even though u r still letting baby cry, he can see u r there.

I am thinking of giving it a try. Either that or controlled comforting. Not sure

Didn't work for us, but my little man was a lot younger. I too thought it would be a gentler option, and I was slowly trying them all. The concerns I had with this approach is that it seemed to continue to stimulate him and hold out hope, so he cried harder. That said, I'd probably give it a go with an older child.

It's a really hard balancing act trying to decide how to best help your child if they are struggling to sleep isn't it? Good luck whatever you try.
