We use 2 parts baby oil and 1 part dettol. Just mix and put it on them. We use it and the kids never get bitten. Good luck!

I can't exactly remember how old our two were when we first started using it. Why don't you check with your pharmacist first? They'll definitely know.

she was right, there is no commercially made insect repellant that is suitable for babies. It doesn't say anything on the dettol bottle about not using it on babies, it is fairly diluted and you really don't need much at all. Just ask if you can use diluted dettol on your bubs skin.

I checked with the pharmacist again yesterday and she suggested Natralia Insect Repellent

"Natralia Insect Repellent is a natural alternative to the insecticide based insect repellents available on the market. It is a natural, herbal blend of Essential Oils and Aloe Vera designed to repel mosquitoes, flies, fleas, sandflies and mites. The soothing properties of Aloe Vera and Tea Tree Oil help to relieve and heal insect bites and sunburn.

The formula includes Citronella Oil, Tea Tree Oil and Aloe Vera. This long lasting, non-toxic formulation has been designed to be as safe and harmless as possible to children and adults. "

I bought one of this and will try.

Banana Boat make a 15+ and 30+ (I think) for babies. It's in a pink roll on thing.

we use 'Thursday Plantation' insect relellent. it's made from tea-tree oil, citronella oil and lemon-myrtle (?) oil. smells nice and is safe for pregnant ladies and babies.

i bought my last bottle in Maleny, Qld, but I think most Health Food stores and some chemists would stock it.
