Sporadically over the last few weeks, Raleigh has been screaming (blood curdling ones I might add) in her sleep. Its rather disturbing. She is now 6 1/2 months old. When I go in to check on her, she's fast asleep as usual when I think she's really distressed. When she does wake up she's la la la la happy as if nothing ever happened.
Has anyone else been through this? Its freaking me out somewhat.
Are you giving her any medicines to treat a cold or hayfever?
My sister had a similar thing happen to her 6 month old boy last year.
She was giving him over the counter medication to treat a cold. She took him to her GP to ask about the screaming in his sleep, and it turns out there are certain infant cold medicines that have nasties that upset bubs in them. Go figure!

A few weeks ago she had some infant demazin for a cold she had and she had an incidence then but the last few times she hasn't had any medication at all. Bizarre.
Hi,
I know how you feel Makayla who is now 10 months old wakes up screaming everynight its like she is pertrified of something. I took her to pediatrcion and he said that hers are called night terrors because even when she looks as though she is awake and screaming she is not she is still asleep and nothing I do will help her calm down you just have to let it run its course. But he also did say it perfectly normal for babies to have nightmares and there is nothing to worry about which sounds like what your little one might be having, but if your worried about it I would just ask the doctor for peice of mind.

Both of my kids have had night terrors in the past and believe me, they are much more upsetting for us than them! You feel helpless because you can't comfort them no matter what you do and the only thing to do is let them run thier course.
You may find that the next day your baby will be a bit tired and need a bit of extra sleep, but they will be perfectly ok!
My kids still get them on and off and never remember what they were about and if I ask them if they had a good sleep, they tell me that they did. I have asked them what they were dreaming, but they never remember and my kids are often telling me about really vivd good dreams that they have!
