My daughter is nearly 2 1/2 and has suddenly turnt into a monster. :devil6: There are tantrums during the day over nothing and when i put her to bed at night she screams and cries but goes to sleep in about 5 minutes.

It all started about 3 weeks ago when she got sick with really high temps so she was sleeping next to me for a couple of nights and now she wants me with her all the time. When she goes to bed at night she wants me to constantly cuddle her and stroke her face or head until she goes to sleep. I have told her i cannot do this anymore (am due with no. 2 in 3 weeks so don't want to have to start doing this to get her to sleep). Once she is asleep she is usually ok. A couple of nights she has come wandering into our room and try to climb into bed with me but i just put her back into bed and she goes straight back to sleep.

Day sleeps are a whole different can of worms. Before she got sick she was having about 2 hours during the day no fuss at all. Now i have to lay down with her to get her to have a day sleep. I have tried to cut her day sleep out to see if this helps her nighttime sleep but it doesn't seem to make a huge difference and i don't want her overtired or she seems to be harder to get to sleep with more crying and tantruming.

Please tell me that its the age and nothing i am doing wrong.

Sounds very familiar! I am going through much the same thing with my 19 month old at the moment. It's driving me to distraction as I'm also 25 weeks pregnant and also have a 3 year old. I am utterly exhausted and I keep telling my DH 'I'm having a sickie tomorrow', mind you I never do.
He only gets one day a week off so I don't get much of a break.
My only bit of advice for you is to be consistant, once they start a bad habit it's so hard to break!
Best of luck!

Thanks ladies. I am feeling a little better tonight after locking horns with her all day and now she is in bed asleep, i am winding down for the night. Its a little bit of comfort to know that it is nothing that i am doing.
