A little girl I have looked after since birth turned 18 months today and oh my god its as if she knows shes getting closer and closer towards the terrible twos. Today we've had tantrums coming in thick and fast and its driving me absolutely insane, where has the little angel I'm used to disappeared too!! The two year olds I also look after are no way near this bad and shes not tired either she slept for half an hour longer than she usually does I have a horrible headache right now :banghead:

Every time she has a tanty, put her in a corner for 1.5-2mins. She should soon get the hint.

I totally understand and Laura!! Today all I wanted to do was lock myself in a cupboard or get in my car and just drive!!! We had a tantrum that lasted 30 minutes (30 minutes of full on screaming) until I ended up giving in and dressed her (while screaming) and put her in the car and then she stopped. I honestly think she would have to be the best tantrum thrower in the world especially cos of her discusting cry she has.

The most important thing you can do for a tantrum is to ignore it! Leave the room, do what you need to to get away from the child while they're doing it.

Often they will find it's no fun if there's no audience.

My 18month old is doing the tantrum thing as well. He started just after his 1st birthday. We have taken the ignore advise from clinc sis and I must say the tantrum have got less frequent and don't last as long. Good Luck:thumbsup:

Thank you everyone for your replies!
Today was better than yesterday I agree with you all, its all about the attention. Now shes got the running away from me bug! Ran away from me far too many times today while we were out but when we were at home all she wanted to do was be held! I cant win can I!
