View Full Version : Living on the cheap!
Hi Everyone,
I discovered something that i just couldnt keep to myself.
I work in a small home based office and we are always looking for ways to cut costs.
Normally we buy loo paper from the supermarket or godfreys. The supermarket stuff always works out to be about 50c a roll (1ply) for average stuff which has about 400 sheets on it. The Godfreys stuff is about 20c a roll (1ply) with 200-250 sheets on it. But today we got our new toilet paper from Corporate Express (they are a nation wide company and any one can buy from them) it was 38.70 for 48 rolls which works out to be 80c a roll but each roll has 1000 sheets on it! so in comparison it works out really really well.
The toilet paper itself isnt the softest i have ever used but it is definatley not the worst either. A roll lasts 9 days here in our office (four of us) so i consider that to be not too bad.
I'm going to get some for my house and just buy the real expensive soft stuff for the guest toilet!
Just thought i would share :D
Anyone else got ideas on how to cut costs? washing powder...dishwashing liquid...

Do they have a website?
Is there a delivery fee that you know of?
Thanks
Hi,
yes they have a website http://netexpress.biz
there is no delivery fee if you order over $50.00.
We used to use Viking Office Products (http://www.viking.com/) - their loo paper is good (and cheap) too. They deliver free for orders over $40.

I was browsing the web (as you do) and came across Fisher & Price's website, which you can order directly from!! I noticed that the prices are about 1/2 the price you can get them in stores, for example Ocean Wonders Aquarium is $30 plus $6.95 postage (varies according to product ordered) compared to $70 I saw it in store for, or on ebay for $30!!! Now thats' a pretty big saving, I noticed that ALOT of there stuff is actually quite cheap ordering from the web! I haven't actually ordered anything as yet but do plan on doing so!!!

I know all about having to cut costs, this world is so expensive! Basically what we do is buy in bulk. Its a bit more than just buying the normal size but in the long run it works out a lot cheaper. Another thing we do is only buy homebrand. It takes a while to adjust to changing to that brand but it saves you lots of money. There is also a place at Lithgow called the Warehouse and it sells brand names for half the price! :D Im not sure if there is any others in the country but ill find out for you all. We get all our baby stuff from there such as nappies, wipes, bath items etc. We also got jayden's xmas things from there. The total price for 4 toys that are brand names was $40!!! They sell Fisher Price, Johnson products and much more. Like i said before ill go and find out for you if there's any other "warehouse" stores in the country.

I checked this out and it is the US website (thus the price difference as it is in $US). I can't find any online ordering on their AUS site but f you track it down, please let me know - there are some great toys on there ! :D

I read about this great site in Practical Parenting Mag...and it is excellent...there are so many cheap brand name toys. I think postage is only $6.95 for unlimited? (Don't quote me on that) Their website is www.peedeetoys.com.au.
